As they are represented in media, Avatars are the spiritual entities that inhibit the Beyblade. The Avatars were featured in the "Beyblade Burst" generation, and in all five Beyblade Burst anime series, as well as the graphic novels and video games.
Information
Blader/Beyblade
The avatar represented the strong connection between a Blader and Beyblade. As a result, that connection contributes to the Beyblade's power as demonstrated when the Beyblade glows, generates energy and manifests its avatar near the end of a Beybattle. The more powerful the bond, the stronger the power. A Blader and Beyblade can share the same power when the Blader's aura activates.
Another way that a Blader can create a strong bond is called Resonance, the very connection between the Blader and his/her Beyblades' Avatar.
General
In general, the Beyblade's respective color and aura are based on the Blader's personality and traits in both the anime. In the English dub, the Blader's avatar can share names of their respective Blader, such as Valt is short for his partner and Beyblade Valtryek. Whenever a Blader is feeling a different emotion, a Blader talks to his/her avatar for advice, such as Aiger speaking to Achilles and Dante to Dragon.
The avatar also have different personality and different voice tone, such as Arman's avatar Ashura talking just like Arman for the first time in episode 22.
Types of Resonance
The Blader's Resonance with his/her Beyblade has varied throughout the six Burst animes. The first type is the normal Resonance, which is demonstrated by the six protagonists: Valt Aoi, Aiger Akabane, Dante Koryu, Hikaru Hizashi, Hyuga Hizashi, and Bel Daizora with their respective Beyblades: Valkyrie, Achilles, Dragon, Helios, Hyperion and Belial. The Avatars are, in a sense, a type of guardian angel that helps their Blader strive to become strong, assist them in times of peril, and enjoy the fun of Beyblading with others. There is, on rare instances, an anomaly where two Bladers with strong Resonances can see their opponent's Beyblade Avatar, as demonstrated in Valt and Aiger's Title Match in the Burst Turbo finale.
The second Resonance type is centered around the concept of possession, demonstrated by Shu Kurenai and Spriggan in Burst Evolution. In his quest to become stronger, Shu's mind was taken over by Spriggan, which altered his personality to a Blader who hungers for battle and won't hesitate to use their full power, which results in the destruction of their opponent's Beyblade. In Shu's case, he becomes Spriggan himself after evolving the avatar into the Spriggan Requiem 0 Zeta Beyblade.
The third Resonance type involves an established connection between the Blader and Beyblade by one trait: destruction. The Blader thrives for strong opponents to destroy to establish their self-proclaimed titles and power, as demonstrated by Phi and his Avatar Phoenix, which he refers to himself as the God of Destruction in the Japanese verison, and Arthur Peregrine and his avatar Apocalypse, referring himself as the Beyblade King.
There are also two anomalies that comes with this type: the first is Phi's Resonance becoming a pollution potent enough to infect another Blader's Resonance, warping it to mirrors his, as it happened to Aiger and Achilles. The second is when the Blader's Resonance momentarily gains strength from the Beyblade's assaults from the opposing Beyblade, demonstrated by both Aiger and Hyde until they were defeated by stronger opponents.
Other
The Blader's avatars are similar to Bit-Beast from the original series, and the Beyspirit from the Metal Saga.

Trivia
- In the original Japanese dub, the name system of the avatars is comprised of names from either various gods, creatures or heroes from multiple mythologies, legends in religion, mystical objects, astronomy, portmanteau of specific words, and titles from medieval era.
- In the English dub, however, certain names are often altered due to censorship.
