Xiphoid (ジフォイド, Jifoido) is a BU Blade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dynamite Battle Layer System and the Burst Ultimate Layer Series. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-200 Starter, Xiphoid Xcalibur Xanthus Sword'-1, on July 16th, 2022.
Description
Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is a right-spin Attack Type BU Blade with a sword tip-like protrusion on the bottom that acts as the primary contact point. The design is reminiscent of the Sieg Xcalibur Layer, which Xiphoid references. Xiphoid works in tandem with the Xcalibur DB Core, with the latter's metal sword gimmick lining up with Xiphoid's protrusion to change into the "One Hit Mode (一撃モード, Ichigeki Mōdo)". Like its predecessors in the Xcalibur line, this is meant to create an imbalanced weight distribution, focused at the protrusion, making the Combination excel at Knockout (KO) and Burst Attack. In addition, the overall diamond shape creates four recoil heavy points of contact.
Like all BU Blades, Xiphoid can switch between Low and High Modes by swapping the position of the DB Core and the Armor.
Overall
Xiphoid has excellent Attack performance, with high amounts of Knockout (KO) and Burst Attack. However, the sword tip-like protrusion will wear down over time, and Xiphoid's Attack performance will be reduced as a result. Other Attack Type Blades, such as Guilty, have similar performance but without the aforementioned wear issue.
As such, Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is not a must-have, but a welcome addition for the WBO's Burst format.
Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is not legal in the WBO's Burst GT format.
Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is not legal in the WBO's Burst Limited format.
Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is not legal in the WBO's Burst Classic format.
