CobaltDrake (コバルトドレイク, KobarutoDoreiku) is a Blade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Basic Line system. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BX-00 Rare Bey Get Battle Prize Booster, CobaltDrake 4-60F, on September 14th, 2023.

Description

Blows opponents away with its four giant dragon blades. Its coat of paint improves performance.
— Official Description

CobaltDrake is a four-sided Attack Type Blade with four upward slanting blades acting as the main contact points. The blades are similar to those of DranSword, albeit smaller in size. At the time of its release, CobaltDrake was the heaviest Blade at an average weight of 38 grams. This heavy weight was advertised heavily by Takara Tomy, and exceeded that of its contemporary Attack Type Blades by 3 grams.

Like the other Team Pendragon Blades, CobaltDrake is a reference to Team Bladebreakers' Beyblades from Bakuten Shoot Beyblade, in this case being Dragoon. The Gear Chip features the side profile of the Blue Dragon (Seiryū), one of the Four Auspicious Beasts from Chinese mythology, with cobalt being the shade of blue used for the Blade. Like the other Team Pendragon Beyblades, the Gear Chip has the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade logo.

The Clear Version release of CobaltDrake is notably underweight, with weights ranging from 36.3 grams to 37.6 grams, well below the advertised 38.0 grams. Due to the time gap between the production of the Metal Coat: Blue and Clear Version releases, all Metal Coat: Blue CobaltDrake Blades are of the first mold, while the Clear Version Blades are entirely of the later, lighter mold.

Overall

CobaltDrake's heavy weight makes it an excellent Blade.

As such, CobaltDrake is a must-have for the WBO's X format.
