Cognite C3 Ring Tower, known as Alter Chronos Ring Tower (アルタークロノス・リング・タワー, Arutā Kuronosu Ringu Tawā) in Japan, is a Balance Type Beyblade released as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It was released in Japan on October 21st, 2017 for 972円 as one of eight possible Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 8 Shelter Regulus.5S.Tw.
Energy Layer - Cognite C3

Cognite C3 is a five bladed Balance Type Energy Layer with one blade protruding further than the rest. Underneath the God Chip is a face meant to depict this Layer's Japanese namesake, the Personification of Time Chronos. Surrounding the God Chip are numerous gears to further emphasis the time motif. The five blades of Cognite C3 are large with only small gaps between them, meant to create a mix between Attack and Stamina through Outward Weight Distribution. As part of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Cognite C3 features a gimmick; the underside of the Layer can be moved to change the Layer's balance for two modes, "Stamina Mode" and "Attack Mode".
In Stamina Mode, the top of the Layer shows a blue dot and the weight is evenly distributed throughout the Layer to create a stable, Stamina-conserving spin.
In Attack Mode, the top of the Layer shows a red dot and the weight is focused on one side of the Layer to create an unstable spin which improves Attack potential and gives the Layer the ability to destabilize the opponent with the small slopes found on the blades at the cost of spin time. However, Burst Attack potential is limited due to the compact nature of the blades and how little the protrusion sticks out from the rest of the Layer.
The Outward Weight Distribution caused by the gimmick's design gives Alter Chronos relatively high Stamina potential but it is heavily outclassed by Drain Fafnir and Deep Chaos. Due to this, Alter Chronos' true potential lies within Defense. The compact, low recoil blades, high stamina compared to many other Defense Layers and excellent teeth on the Japanese release of this Layer makes it a Top-Tier choice for Defense Combinations.
Forge Disc - Ring

As its name suggests, Ring is a Forge Disc with a smooth, solid ring that forms its perimeter. The ring is interrupted by 4 small designs that cause it to somewhat resemble a pipe. The ring is connected to the interior of the disk by two thin triangular structures, as well as the prongs that fit inside the Energy Layer. Ring's smooth perimeter provides the Beyblade with a small amount of Life After Death, allowing it to roll on the edge of the disc for a few extra rotations after falling over, making it useful for Stamina Combinations. Additionally, nearly all of Ring's weight is located on its perimeter, so it offers impressive Outward Weight Distribution and increases the Beyblade's Stamina significantly thanks to the Flywheel Effect. However, this weight distribution also has its downsides.
As a Forge Disc with high Outward Weight Distribution such as Ring, it's more difficult to slow down while spinning, when colliding with an opponent, a Beyblade using Ring will not lose very much Stamina from the force of the impact. This force must go somewhere, though, and is usually absorbed by the Energy Layer instead, making it more likely to skip its teeth and burst. Because of this, Ring is generally not recommended over Forge Discs with similar Stamina but less of a tendency to Burst, such as Spread and Knuckle.
Performance Tip - Tower

Tower is a Performance Tip with a plastic semi-flat tip and a wide base that features an automatic height-change gimmick.
Early in battle, the centrifugal force pulls two tabs outward which in turn forces the tip inward to the standard height. The semi-flat tip creates a somewhat aggressive movement that has trouble reaching the Tornado Ridge but has greater Stamina than standard plastic flat tips such as Accel. However, the short distance between the stadium floor and the wide base creates a scrape risk.
Later in battle, the lowered centrifugal force allows the tabs to retract and allows the tip to rise up. In theory this is meant to increase contact between the Tower Combination’s Disc and Frame and the Opponent’s Layer. Such contact would prevent the Tower Combination from Bursting and instead cause the opponent to Burst. In practice however, the height of most Layers and the minimal change in height means that there will be contact with the Layers regardless. Furthermore the change in height will mean that the Tower Combination’s Layer will be struck from an upwards angle, causing severe Destabilization which is exacerbated by the instability present in the gimmick creating a top-heavy design which increases Burst risk and drains Stamina.
