Earth Eagle 145WD is a Balance-Type Beyblade released as part of the Hybrid Wheel System. It was released in Japan as Earth Aquila 145WD in September 2009 for 893円.

Face Bolt: Eagle

Main article: Face Bolt - Eagle

The Face on this Beyblade depicts Aquila, one of the 88 constellations in space. In mythology, Aquila represents an eagle, which is featured on this Beyblade's Face Bolt.

Energy Ring: Eagle

Main article: Energy Ring - Eagle

Eagle was first released in a translucent purple colour. Each side of this Energy Ring represents an eagle's pair of wings, with the notches on either side representing its head. It was clearly designed to fit with the aesthetic of the Earth Fusion Wheel with its two spikes/notches fitting nicely over the small notches on the inner section of Earth.

Attack: 2 - Defense: 1 - Stamina: 4

Fusion Wheel: Earth

Main article: Fusion Wheel - Earth

Earth has four thick, textured wings surrounding its perimeter, with each pair facing each other on a slight incline. The space created between the wings is quite small, and the resulting effect is similar to any Wheel that has no spaces: minimal recoil. Though it is on the lighter side of Metal Wheels, its almost unperturbed circular design, and minimal recoil made it one of the best, Defense-oriented Wheels available for competitive play. However under Standard format, it has since been severely outclassed by the extremely heavy 4D Metal Wheels and Zero-G Chrome Wheels paired in Synchrom, such as Duo, Revizer and Genbull.

Spin Track: 145

Main article: Spin Track - 145

145, along with its variants (Claw 145 (C145), Down Force 145 (DF145), etc.), was once the highest Spin Track available, until the 230 Spin Track was released with Flame Byxis 230WD. 145 can be used in Stamina Type combinations to great effect due to its tall height, which allows for more wobbling as the Beyblade loses its spin velocity. However, gimmick-paired Spin Tracks such as Boost Disk 145 (BD145) have immensely outclassed their original basic variant, as have several taller gimmick Spin Tracks, especially against heavy, mid-height Attack customisations. Even in stamina battles, 145 does not offer enough balance: Spin Tracks such as Armor Defense 145 (AD145) and Wide Defense 145 (WD145) provide a good center of gravity, and aid with a slight downforce to maintain stability.

Performance Tip: WD

Main article: Performance Tip - WD

Wide Defense (WD) retains the two curved holes D contained but are now thinner, smaller and found on the Sharp tip.

Being wider brings advantages and disadvantages to WD. An advantage is being able to conserve better Stamina than D and SD, due to the more surface area as well as being able to spin at a lower spin-rate that that of D or SD which cannot. A disadvantage however, is that it is worse at regaining balance than D. The wide shape gives WD a harder time to regain its balance whereas, D does it much easier. This should take into consideration when using a Spin Track such as 230 or TH170. D would be a better choice than WD as it would regain balance much easier to help cope with 230. However, while D can regain balance better, it cannot maintain it as well as WD, especially with the heights of 170 and above.

At release, WD has found quick use as a Stamina-Type Tip, much better than D and has become top-tier. Despite this however, as many more Performance Tips like AS, EWD, and B:D were released; they have overshadowed WD. EWD has also overshadowed WD due to EWD's bearing to regain balance better and much better Stamina. W²D performs basically the same as WD though but with worse balance but better attack.

Wide Defense (WD) has significant defensive capabilities as well, but because it still uses a form of sharp tip, its friction with the stadium floor is decreased, which as a result makes it easier to knock around than a Tip like WB which has much more friction with the stadium floor. But since it can recover quickly, it does not matter.

Some Bladers experience a fast movement from Wide Defense, allowing the Wide Defense tip with fast movement to be paired with high-recoil fusion wheels such as Vulcan, Beat, Fang, Spiral, Flash, or Variares, to create powerful, or even a 1-Hit KO Attack-type combos, or be paired with low-recoil fusion wheels such as Bakushin, Duo, Gravity (Perseus Stamina), Fusion, Wing, Death to create counter-attacking Defense-Type combos.

Overall

Earth Aquila 145WD uncustomized is a quite strong Stamina type by itself, and, taken separately, Earth used to be top-tier in Defense, and 145 serves no purpose anymore due to its lack of gimmick. Even if WD remains top-tier, it has been released in many subsequent Beyblades and Sets. This Beyblade should be bought for the parts, as they can prove to be useful.

Trivia

  • The WBBA exclusive Earth Eagle 105HF/S is the second Beyblade with the HF/S Performance Tip, the first being Storm Aquario 100HF/S.
  • Aquila, the constellation that Earth Eagle is based on, is also shown on Jade Jupiter S130RB.
  • Earth Eagle 145WD is the first Beyblade released with the Earth Fusion Wheel, the second being Earth Virgo GB145BS.
  • It is known as a Balance-Type in real life and the anime and has even been called a Defense-Type once in the anime, when in reality judgeing by it's overall total statistics(Attack: 3 - Defense: 7 - Stamina: 13), it should be labeled as a Stamina-Type.
