Caynox C3, known as Deep Chaos (ディープカオス, Dīpu Kaosu) in Japan, is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-98 God Customize Set on November 11th, 2017. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the SwitchStrike Starter Pack Caynox C3 4Flow Bearing.
Description
Caynox C3 is a Stamina Type Energy Layer that features an almost completely round perimeter made of two large wings with each wing is split into three blades. The primary points of contact come from a large gap on either side with the right hand side’s blade protruding further than the other, this blade is sloped in order to grant the Layer Upper Attack. As part of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Caynox C3 features a gimmick; the wings of the Layer are spring loaded, akin to Genesis Valtryek V3, in order to create “Bound Defense”, akin to Guardian Kerbeus and Jerk.
The springs of Caynox C3 are positioned vertically to allow the blades to shift so that when upon impact, the Layer will cushion impacts and destabilize the opponent by pushing back. Despite this gimmick however, Caynox C3 ends up having poor Burst Resistance due to its sharp protrusions.
Caynox C3's Stamina exceeds that of Kerbeus K4 and against Defense Combinations and other Stamina Combinations, as the sloped blades of Caynox C3 severely destabilize the opponent and in turn drain their Stamina. This, along with the Takara Tomy release of Deep Chaos and its high Life After Death potential, even without Frames, makes it outclass the aforementioned Layer Stamina wise. Despite this however, the Layer's teeth must rely on an A Mold God Chip in order to perform competitively, and even with an A Mold God Chip, it is still vulnerable against Attack Combinations.
Use in Stamina Combinations
Deep Chaos can be put to use in the Stamina Combination Deep Chaos 4/5/7 Atomic/Revolve. The high Stamina and Life After Death of Deep Chaos is bolstered by the Stamina of 4/5/7 and the Stamina and Life After Death of Atomic/Revolve while the Combination is given KO resistance by the heavy weight of 4/5/7 and the ball tip of Atomic. When paired with an A Mold God Chip, this Combination can Out Spin almost any Combination, however, it is also highly vulnerable against Attack Types.
Overall
Deep Chaos boasts some of the highest Stamina in the game at the time of writing, as well as high Life After Death, higher than that of Cross and Glaive, making it a Top-Tier Layer for Stamina Combinations while also having greater Burst Resistance than Guardian Kerbeus. However, with the release of Hell Salamander and Crash Ragnaruk, Deep Chaos has become outclassed.
As such, Deep Chaos is not a must have, but is instead a welcome addition to any blader’s collection.
Differences in the Hasbro Version
Aside from the irremovable God Chip, Hasbro's Caynox C3 is typically unchanged from Takara Tomy's Deep Chaos with the same high Stamina and spring-loaded gimmick intact. In terms of Burst Resistance, its slopes are somewhat stronger than the teeth of Deep Chaos, making Caynox C3 a somewhat safer choice for Stamina Combinations, as they won't be as vulnerable against Attack Combinations. However, due to Kerbeus K4's stronger slopes, and the removal of metal on Hasbro's SlingShock Layers, both Kerbeus K4 and Caynox C3 can match each other in terms of Stamina. If Kerbeus K4 or other SwitchStrike Layers such as Balkesh B3 and Spryzen Requiem S3 are unavailable, Caynox C3 is an excellent alternative.
As such, Caynox C3 is a must have for competitve bladers in the Hasbro-Only Format.
