Revision as of 23:01, 15 February 2019

Evipero, known as Evil-eye (イビルアイ, Ibiruai) in Japan, is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System. It debuted with the release of the B-24 Random Booster Vol. 2 Evil-eye Wing Needle on December 26th, 2015. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Starter Pack Evipero Wing Needle.

Description

Evipero is a round Energy Layer designed for Defense that features a coiled serpent around the perimeter and molding around the center akin to the Iris of the eye, like the Layer's Japanese namesake; Evileye.

The perimeter features twelve blades, that at first glance appears to create a rough, high recoil design. However, the direction of the blades means that impacts are instead deflected off of Evipero, reducing recoil. Furthermore the Takara Tomy release of Evil-eye feature four teeth of medium length, allowing the Layer to withstand the recoil it does produce.

Overall

Due to this Layer's low recoil and strong teeth, Evil-eye was an Energy Layer great for Defense Combinations, however it was still outclassed by other, more commonly available Layers such as Neptune and Wyvern due to its relatively rougher design. Furthermore, with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Evil-eye is now too light to stay competitive.

As such, Evil-eye is recommended for collection purposes only.

Differences in the Hasbro Version

Hasbro's Evipero features strong slopes, and combined with the unchanged design compared to Takara Tomy's Evil-eye, it created a Top-Tier Layer for Defense Combinations with excellent Stamina. However, its rough design made it outclassed by Unicrest. Furthermore, with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Evipero is now too light to remain competitive.

As such, Evipero is also recommended for collection purposes only.

Use in Defense Combinations

Evipero can be put to use in the Defense Combination Evipero Knuckle/Heavy/Gravity Revolve/Press/Needle. Knuckle bolsters Burst resistance and Stamina and Heavy/Gravity bolsters KO resistance and Stamina while Evipero's strong slopes can compensate for the increased Burst risk. Revolve increases Stamina while the Layer and Disc reduce recoil while Hasbro's Press/Needle's tabs and strong spring increases KO and Burst resistance.
