Galaxy Zeutron Z4, known as Galaxy Zeus (ギャラクシーゼウス, Gyarakushī Zeusu) in Japan, is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-90 3on3 Battle Booster Set on August 11th, 2017. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Gold-X Betromoth B4 & Galaxy Zeutron Z4 Dual Pack.

Description

Galaxy Zeutron Z4 is a Stamina Type Energy Layer that features four large blades, producing an overall rounded square design, as well as two faces on either side akin to its predecessor Zeutron Z2, meant to represent its Japanese namesake; Zeus, the god of thunder in Greek Mythology. As part of the God Layer System, Galaxy Zeus features a gimmick; it features four metal balls on tracks, like the two metal balls of its predecessor, Zeutron Z2.

Due to centrifugal force, the metal balls move outward in the tracks. In theory, this is meant to increase Outward Weight Distribution, Stamina, and stability. In practice, due to the increased number and weight of the balls and how much closer the tracks are to the edge of the Layer compared to its predecessor, Galaxy Zeus' gimmick works as intended, giving Galaxy Zeus Combinations longer spin times.

While the Takara Tomy release of Galaxy Zeus has teeth of only average length and a recoil inducing square shape akin to Wyvron W2, the Layer's metal balls and large blades gave the Layer a relatively high weight of 12.8 grams, which heavily bolsters its Burst Resistance. As a result, Galaxy Zeus had great Defense and Attack potential along with its Stamina, making it a once Top-Tier Layer for Balance Combinations.

Use in Balance Combinations

Galaxy Zeus can be put to use in the Balance Combination (Metal God Chip) Galaxy Zeus 2/4/5/7 Cross/Glaive Atomic/Orbit. The free-spinning ball of Atomic/Orbit bolsters the Stamina and Burst resistance of the Layer, the heavy weight of 2/4/5/7 further bolsters Stamina and aids in KO resistance while the other parts can compensate for the Burst risk of using heavy Discs and Cross/Glaive adds Life After Death, giving the Combination greater chances of Out Spinning the opponent. This Combination is capable of Out Spinning Attack and Defense Combinations with its Stamina and Burst/KO resistance and can potentially Burst Combinations with its recoil inducing square shape. However, this Combination must be moderate launched to be successful.

Overall

With Galaxy Zeus' heavy weight, high Stamina and potential Burst Attack, it was once a Top-Tier Layer for Balance Combinations. However, like other "Jack-of-all-Trades" parts, Galaxy Zeus did not perform as consistently as a dedicated Attack, Defense or Stamina Layer such as Legend Spriggan/Sieg Xcalibur, Alter Chronos/Drain Fafnir or Guardian Kerbeus/Deep Chaos respectively. Furthermore, with the release of Cho-Z Layers such as Hell Salamander and Archer Hercules, Galaxy Zeus has become outclassed Stamina wise.

As such, Galaxy Zeus is not a must have but is instead a welcome addition to any blader's collection.

Differences in the Hasbro Version

Hasbro's Galaxy Zeutron Z4, unlike Takara Tomy's Galaxy Zeus, does not feature the metal ball gimmick of its Takara Tomy counterpart, severely reducing the its Stamina potential and weight. However, its slopes are much stronger than that of Galaxy Zeus's average teeth, granting higher Burst Resistance and some better potential for Galaxy Zeutron Z4. However, with the release of SwitchStrike Layers such as Balkesh B3 and Spryzen Requiem S3, Galaxy Zeutron Z4 is also outclassed Stamina wise, unless the aforementioned Layers are unavailable.

As such, Galaxy Zeutron Z4 is recommended for collection purposes only if one has Balkesh B3 or Spryzen Requiem S3, and is a welcome addition to any blader's collection if one does not.
