Kerbeus K2, known in Japan as Kaiser Kerbeus (カイザーケルベウス, Kaizā Kerubeusu), is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-37 Booster Kaiser Kerbeus Limited Press on April 2nd, 2016.

Description

Kerbeus K2 is a round and thin Energy Layer designed for defense. The center of the Layer depicts three canine heads like the Layer's namesake, the mythological three headed hound Cerberus, each with flames pouring out from the sides of their mouths. Consisting of a chain-like bottom layer and a six bladed top layer, every other "link" in the chain layer protrudes outwards slightly and each blade on the top layer features a large gap in between. While these features may imply that this layer has a lot of recoil, due to its thinness, both layers come into contact with the opposing Beyblade at the same time and cover up each other's gaps, reducing recoil and subsequent stamina loss.

Combined with the teeth of the Japanese release, Kaiser Kerbeus exhibited decent defensive properties in ideal conditions. However this layer exhibits two major weakness.

First, when the Beyblade is knocked off balance, only the top layer will come into contact with the opposing Beyblade, due to the aforementioned large gaps between each blade, Kerbeus K2 will then become very likely to lose by Burst Finish. Thus when using this Energy Layer it is critical to pair it with a Performance Tip with great stability.

Second, the weight distribution of the Layer creates poor Stamina and leaves combinations liable to losses by being out spun.

Overall

Kaiser Kerbeus was a great and commonly available defensive Energy Layer, however with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Kaiser Kerbeus is now too light to be competitive.

As such, Kaiser Kerbeus is recommended for collection purposes only.

Differences in the Hasbro Version

Hasbro's release of Kerbeus K2 is virtually unchanged with the same low recoil and poor stamina. However, Hasbro's Kerbeus K2's Burst resistance is much higher than Takara Tomy's which made it one of the strongest Layers for Defense combinations in the Hasbro metagame. However, with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Kerbeus K2 is now too light to remain competitive.

As such, Kerbeus K2 is also recommended for collection purposes only.
