<onlyinclude>'''Kerbeus K2''' is a round and thin Energy Layer designed for Defense. The center of the Layer depicts three canine heads like the Layer's namesake, the mythological three headed hound Cerberus, each with flames pouring out from the sides of their mouths. Consisting of a chain-like bottom layer and a six bladed top layer, every other "link" in the chain layer protrudes outwards slightly and each blade on the top layer features a large gap in between. While these features may imply that this Layer has a lot of recoil, due to its thinness, both layers come into contact with the opposing Beyblade at the same time and cover up each other's gaps, reducing recoil and subsequent Stamina loss.

Combined with the teeth of the Japanese release, '''Kaiser''' '''Kerbeus''' exhibited decent Defense in ideal conditions. However this Layer exhibits two major weakness.

First, when the Beyblade is knocked off balance, only the top layer will come into contact with the opposing Beyblade, due to the aforementioned large gaps between each blade, '''Kerbeus K2''' will then become very likely to lose by Burst. Thus when using this Energy Layer it is critical to pair it with a Performance Tip with great stability.

Kerbeus K2, known as Kaiser Kerbeus (カイザーケルベウス, Kaizā Kerubeusu) in Japan, is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-37 Booster Kaiser Kerbeus Limited Press on April 2nd, 2016. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Starter Pack Kerbeus K2 Limited Press.

Description

Kerbeus K2, like its predecessor Kerbeus, is a round and thin Energy Layer designed for Defense. As such, its design consists of six-bladed top-layer made of clear plastic; that each have a large gap in between, and a round bottom-layer made of colored plastic that's molded into the shape of chains; with each "link" of the chain-like layer slightly protruding outwards. In the center of the Layer are three dogs heads with flames near each head, representing the Layer's original namesake; Kerberos, the three-headed guard dog of the Underworld featured in Greek mythology.

At first glance, the design of Kerbeus K2, while round, appears to imply high recoil. However in reality, due to how thin the Layer is, both the clear and colored plastic layers come into contact with the opponent's Layer at the same time and cover each other's gaps in the process, and as such, is capable of reducing recoil and potential subsequent Stamina loss. For the Takara Tomy release of Kaiser Kerbeus, its strong teeth made it excel in Defense Combinations when in certain conditions. However, while this may imply high Defense potential, there are two major weaknesses:

First, when the Kerbeus K2 Combination is knocked off balance, only the six-bladed top-layer will come into contact with the opponent. As such, due to the aforementioned large gaps in between each blade, this increases the risk of the Kerbeus K2 Combination Bursting. As such, it is critical to pair up Kerbeus K2 will a Performance Tip with great stability.

Finally, the weight distribution of the Layer ends up creating poor Stamina, making Kerbeus K2 Combinations liable to being Out Spun.

Overall

Kaiser Kerbeus, at the time, was a great and commonly available Layer for Defense Combinations. However, with the release of the Cho-Z Layer System, especially with the release of Cho-Z Layers such as Hell Salamander and Revive Phoenix, Kaiser Kerbeus is not only outclassed, but is also far too light to be competitive in the current metagame.

As such, unless one prefers to use Kaiser Kerbeus, it is recommended for collection purposes only.

Differences in the Hasbro Version: Kerbeus K2

Aside from the use of softer plastic and the center being filled in the facilitate the Layer's QR Code for the Beyblade Burst App, Kerbeus K2 is virtually unchanged from Kaiser Kerbeus; with the same low-recoil design and poor Stamina.

However, what sets it apart from Kaiser Kerbeus is that Kerbeus K2 features slopes that are much stronger than Kaiser Kerbues' teeth, making Kerbeus K2 a safer and thus better option for Defense Combinations, as the Burst risk posed by the six blades' large gaps is much less of threat to the Layer's performance, in terms of Burst Defense. Because of this, it was one of the best Layers for Defense Combinations in the Hasbro-Only Format at the time.

However, due to the release of SwitchStrike Layers such as Spryzen Requiem S3, Balkesh B3, and the recent Kerbeus K4, Kerbeus K2 is not only outclassed for Defense and Stamina, but has also become too light to remain competitive.

As such, unless one prefers to use Kerbeus K2, it is also recommended for collection purposes only.
