This article is about the Hasbro version. For the Takara Tomy version, see Energy Layer - Nightmare Longinus.

Luinor L3, stylized as Lúinor L3, is an Energy Layer released by Hasbro as part of the Burst System as well as the SwitchStrike System. It debuted in western countries with the release of the SwitchStrike Starter Pack Lúinor L3 Destroy.

Description

Hasbro's Lúinor L3 is a wide left-spin Attack Type Layer based on Takara Tomy's Nightmare Longinus. It is virtually identical to its Takara Tomy counterpart, and as such features the same four dragon heads in its design, with two surrounding the center and two of following the perimeter. The primary points of contact are two large wings that protrude from both sides of the perimeter, creating high recoil.

As part of the SwitchStrike System, Lúinor L3 features two gimmicks: the dragon heads are made of metal and the Energy Layer has a built-in Forge Disc. While the latter gimmick makes Lúinor L3 incompatible with Forge Discs, it is still compatible with Disc Frames which is attached to notches on the plastic base.

There is a minor mold variation of Lúinor L3: the mold released in the Ultimate Tournament Collection has weaker Burst Resistance than the Starter Pack release. Thus, it is advised for Bladers to seek the Starter Pack release, if possible.

Overall

Hasbro's Lúinor L3 is virtually identical to Takara Tomy's Nightmare Longinus with the same recoil. In addition, Lúinor L3 boasts higher Burst Resistance than its Takara Tomy counterpart due to its tight slopes.

Lúinor L3 is outclassed by Energy Layers that were later released by Takara Tomy, but finds use in formats where stronger Energy Layers are restricted. As such, Hasbro's Lúinor L3 is a must-have if the Blader plans to compete in the WBO's Burst Limited format or a Hasbro-Only format, but is otherwise recommended for collection purposes only.

As such, Hasbro's Lúinor L3 is not a must have but is instead a welcome addition to a blader's collection.
