Minoboros (ミノボロス, Minoborosu) is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System. It debuted with the release of the B-21 Beyblade Custom Set Attack and Balance on November 14th, 2015. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Custom Clash Pack.
Minoboros is a six sided Energy Layer designed for Attack. The center of the Energy layer features the head of a bull to match the Japanese namesake of the Layer; the Minotaur, a monster from Greek mythology. The face of the Minotaur and the four notches around the perimeter make up the primary points of contact. Most of the weight of Minoboros is spread in a anchor-like shape throughout the Layer and while this may imply that Minoboros is imbalanced, the effect is so minuscule it does not affect the performance.
Due to its aggressive shape, Minoboros works well in Attack Combinations and has relatively high Stamina for an Attack-oriented Layer. Furthermore, the Takara Tomy release of Minoboros features three tall teeth allowing the Layer to withstand its own recoil. Despite being overshadowed by Valkyrie in Burst Attack and Xcalibur in KO Attack, Minoboros is considered a decent choice for Attack Combinations that focus on Out Spinning the opponent if a Burst or KO is not achieved due to its relatively high Stamina compared to other Attack-oriented Energy Layers.
Minoboros was a decent choice for Attack Combinations at the time of release and was a consistent counter against the highly prevalent Dark Deathscyther. However, with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Minoboros has become too light to be competitive.
As such, Minoboros is recommended for collection purposes only.
Differences in the Hasbro Version
Hasbro's Minoboros is visually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Minoboros, however the slopes of the Layer are weak and are unable to withstand the recoil of the Layer.
As such, Hasbro's Minoboros is also recommended for collection purposes only.
