Nepstrius N2, known as Nova Neptune (ノヴァネプチューン, Noba Nepuchūn) in Japan, is an Energy Layer released as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-57 Triple Booster Set on August 6th, 2016. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Starter Pack Nepstrius N2 Vertical Zephyr.

Nepstrius N2 is a Balance Type Energy Layer that features three sloped wave-like blades, with three smaller sloped blades in between. In the center is a face on each side, meant to represent the Layer's Japanese namesake; Neptune, the god of the sea in Roman Mythology. Unlike its predecessor, Nepstrius, Nepstrius N2 has some recoil due to its sloped blades. As a result, it does not have as much Defense capabilities like its predecessor. While it is decent in terms of Stamina, it is surpassed by many other Layers. Nepstrius N2 also has sub-par Attack, making it ill-suited for Attack Combinations as well. For the Takara Tomy release of Nova Neptune, its weak teeth further aggravate this issue, being somewhat mediocre compared to other Dual Layers. Due to its weak performance, it is rendered outclassed by Neptune.

Nova Neptune is directly outclassed by its predecessor, and is good at none of the types it is designed to balance. Furthermore, with the release of Cho-Z Layers such as Hell Salamander and Dead Hades, Nova Neptune is far too light to be competitive.

As such, Nova Neptune is recommended for collection purposes only.

Differences in the Hasbro Version

Hasbro's Nepstrius N2 is virtually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Nova Neptune with the same mediocre design. However, its Burst Resistance is significantly increased, making it far less prone to losses by Burst. Despite the increased Burst Resistance, the release of SwitchStrike Layers such as Legend Spryzen S3 and Spryzen Requiem S3 have not only outclassed Nepstrius N2, but made also made it too light to be competitive.

As such, Nepstrius N2 is also recommended for collection purposes only.
