Unperfect Phoenix (アンパーフェクトフェニックス, Anpāfekuto Fenikkusu) is an Energy Layer that's a part of the Burst System as well as the Cho-Z Layer System. While this Layer doesn't have an official release, it is possible to create by combining the Revive Armor from Revive Phoenix and the Dead Core from Dead Phoenix.
Takara Tomy's Unperfect Phoenix is a Defense Type Energy Layer that is created by combining the Revive Armor from Revive Phoenix and the Dead Core from Dead Phoenix. The name Unperfect Phoenix is derived from the fact that the Energy Layer is a combination of the lighter Core and Armor components of the Revive Phoenix and Dead Phoenix Energy Layers. Unperfect Phoenix is consequently lighter than Revive Phoenix and Dead Phoenix and is outclassed by both. The alternate combination featuring the heavier components is referred to as Perfect Phoenix.
Like its predecessors, Unperfect Phoenix features a bird in the center and four blades that make up the bird's wings, representing the Energy Layer's namesake; the mythical immortal bird, the Phoenix. As a part of the Cho-Z Layer System, Unperfect Phoenix features metal in its design, on both the Revive Armor and the Dead Core. The Revive Armor is attached to the rest of the Energy Layer via a locking mechanism, and the Armor can be knocked off during battle. While the loss of the Revive Armor makes the Energy Layer lighter, the smoother perimeter created reduces recoil. Furthermore, the Revive Armor is left in the stadium, interfering with the opponent and impeding Banking Patterns and reducing Stamina. However, this can also interfere with the Unperfect Phoenix Combination.
Unperfect Phoenix's design creates good Outward Weight Distribution (OWD), and thus the Energy Layer has high Stamina Potential. However, it is overall inferior to the other three combinations of Phoenix Cores and Armors.
Like other Cho-Z Layers, Unperfect Phoenix is unbalanced which increases Burst risk and drains Stamina. However, these issues can be solved with the use of a Level Chip that fits underneath the Energy Layer.
