Destroyer or Perseus (ペルセウス, Peruseusu) is an Energy Ring released by Takara Tomy. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BB-80 Starter Gravity Perseus AD145WD on June 26, 2010 and in western countries with the release of the Gravity Destroyer AD145WD Starter Pack in May 2011.
Description
Destroyer is a Dual Spin Energy Ring designed to work in tandem with the Gravity Fusion Wheel. Destroyer features a mode change gimmick; when the Destroyer Energy Ring is rotated 180 degrees, it can switch between "Counter Mode" and "Defense Mode". Depending on the mode, the "eyes" of the Gravity Fusion Wheel will be covered by the Energy Ring.
The standard, "Defense" version of Destroyer features three longer, helmet-like protrusions, and three stubby protrusions between each of the longer ones. The difference between these enables the mode change; with the long "helmet" protrusions over the "eyes" of the Gravity Fusion Wheel, the Beyblade is in "Defense Mode", while the other mode, with the "eyes" under the short protrusions, is "Counter Mode".
Overall
Destroyer Defense is the most versatile of the three variants of Destroyer, due to its design causing the greatest performance change between Defense and Counter modes. In Defense Mode, it closely matches the performance of Destroyer Stamina, filling in the largest gaps of Gravity, limiting its Attack power but making it more effective in Defense or Stamina combos. In Counter Mode, its performance is similar to Destroyer Attack, with the large gaps in Gravity exposed and ready to deliver powerful attacks. Destroyer Defense is an essential part of Gravity Destroyer's unmatched flexibility, allowing it to act in a variety of roles and compete well against a huge array of opponents.
As such, Destroyer is a must have for competitive bladers.
