L-Drago II (エルドラゴII, Erudorago II) or L-Drago Absorb (エルドラゴアブソーブバージョン, Erudorago Abusōbu Bājon)[1] is an Energy Ring released by Takara Tomy. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BB-88 Starter Meteo L-Drago LW105LF on September 18, 2010, and in Western countries with the release of the Triple Battle Set in May 2011.

Description

L-Drago II (also known as L-Drago Absorb) is an Attack Type Energy Ring and the successor to the original L-Drago I Energy Ring, and as such features thee dragon heads. Like the other L-Drago Energy Rings, L-Drago II can switch between two modes by changing the position of the Energy Ring on the Fusion Wheel, in this case being Meteo. These modes are named "Assault Mode (強襲モード, Kyōshū Mōdo)" and "Rapid-Hit Mode (連打モード, Renda Mōdo)". Since release, it has been debated as to which mode offers greater spin absorption capability, although the differences appear to be negligible.

Compared to its predecessor L-Drago I, L-Drago II introduces rubber parts, which gives Meteo L-Drago its spin absorption gimmick. The added rubber made L-Drago II one of the heaviest Energy Rings at the time of its release. L-Drago II also features stickers with patterns on the dragon heads and between gaps.

Thanks to the spin absorption capability from L-Drago II, it is able to work in Stamina Type combos with Opposite-Spin matchups. However, this gimmick reduces its Attack capability (despite being designed as an Attack Type), as it dampens hits.

Overall

While Meteo and L-Drago II were eventually outclassed by heavier combinations in the standard Metal Fight metagame and format, it finds a use in the WBO's Metal Fight Limited format, where it is an excellent choice for Stamina Type combos thanks to its spin absorption abilities.

As such, L-Drago II is a must-have for competitive bladers.
