Fang Fenrir Polish Atomic (ファングフェンリル・ポリッシュ・アトミック, Fangu Fenriru Porisshu Atomikku) is a Defense Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It was released in Japan on April 29th, 2017 for 972円 as one of eight possible Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 6 Tornado Wyvern.4G.At.

Energy Layer - Fang Fenrir[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Fang Fenrir

Takara Tomy's Fang Fenrir is an Attack Type Layer that features four counterclockwise blades as its main contact points. While the direction and smooth design of the blades may imply high Defense potential, the large gaps in between the blades creates too much recoil for such a purpose and the recoil that is produced is too little to create meaningful Burst Attack. Fang Fenrir's problems become exacerbated by its mediocre teeth which are inconsistent on withstanding the recoil the blades produce, making Fang Fenrir Burst prone.

Forge Disc - Polish[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Polish

Polish, like Magnum and Jerk, is a Forge Disc made up of metal core and plastic perimeter with the letter, in this case "P", embossed onto the plastic on either side with the plastic making up the gimmick of the Disc.

For Polish's gimmick, the plastic creates a "skirt" with a perfectly smooth and circular perimeter meant to, in theory, create high Life-After-Death so that a Stamina Combination can Out-Spin its opponent. In practice, the gimmick works as intended, however, a single factor restricts Polish's performance in Stamina Combinations; the plastic construction.

Due to having a metal core and plastic perimeter, Polish has a Centralized Weight Distribution (CWD) rather than an Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) which creates poor spin retention and spin times making Polish Combinations liable to being Out-Spun. Furthermore, the same construction makes Polish very lightweight and makes Combinations highly vulnerable to Knock-Outs.

However, the same lightweight allows Polish to be used to great effect in Spin-Equalization Combinations as the low weight creates low inertia and makes it easier for a Polish Combination to Spin-Equalize and the high Life-After-Death allows Spin-Equalization Combinations to Out-Spin their opponents by a few more rotations.

Performance Tip - Atomic[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Atomic

Atomic is a Performance Tip that features a free-rotating ball tip, akin to its predecessor Orbit, surrounded by a four-tabbed, free-spinning ring. Compared to Orbit, the ball of Atomic is approximately 3.4 times larger in volume or 1.3 times wider in diameter. In theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Knock-Out Defense by having greater surface area and friction. However, in practice, the free-rotating nature of the ball reduces most of the Knock-Out Defense given by the surface area of the ball. Like all other ball-based Performance Tips, the tabs around Atomic are meant to act as brakes against Knock-Outs at the cost of Stamina by striking against the stadium floor. However, the large diameter makes such contact rare. If hard launched, the greater surface area creates a semi-aggressive movement pattern early in the battle, bringing the Beyblade close to the Tornado Ridge.

While these features may imply that an Atomic Combination would be easy to Knock-Out, the heavy weight of Energy Layers and Forge Discs released after the God Layer System, along with Atomic's own weight, compensates for the rotating ball. Furthermore, the free-rotating ball increases the Burst Resistance of a Defense Combination. However, the Takara Tomy release of Atomic has noticeably weaker Burst Lock spring than Orbit, making Atomic lag behind its predecessor in terms of Burst Resistance.

In addition to its Defense properties, Atomic features high Stamina and Spin-Equalization potential. The free-rotating nature of the ball reduces friction with the stadium floor, as the wide ball tip will keep a Combination stable and thus prevent scraping. The free-spinning ring also increases Life-After-Death (LAD).

The Hasbro version of Atomic is mostly unchanged from its Takara Tomy counterpart. However, there are three variations of Hasbro's Atomic. The first variation, which debuted in the Wyvron W3 4Glaive Atomic Starter Pack, does not spin as freely as the second and third variations. The second variation, which debuted in the Quad Ring Combat Pack, has a better free-spinning ring than the first and a better molded free-rotating ball than the third variation. The third variation, which debuted in the Balkesh B3 2Bump Atomic Starter Pack, has the same amount of free-spin as the second variation, but differs by having a bump on the ball tip.
