The Energy Ring Byxis is a light aqua with the design of a compass. It has the North, South, East, and West symbols on their respective sides. There is somewhat of a compass rose in the middle, pointing outwards from the Face Bolt. Due to it's shape, it has found great use in Wheels like Vulcan, in order to expose their Smash Attack points. It is blue.

Flame is a circular Fusion Wheel with two thin gaps and two others with a small spike. It has a spike-like design with gaps and the word "BEYBLADE" appearing on two sides. Because Flame's raised slopes, it makes the Spin Track more visible and thus, reduces some of Byxis's Defense capabilities. Despite this, it has great destabilization properties. It also supplies the beyblade because it is harder to hit. The spikes on this Fusion Wheel allows Byxis to push away from an opponent, increasing its offensive capabilities.

==Performance Tip: WD==
The Spin Track is what makes Byxis so exclusive. 230 is a remarkably tall Spin Track, and is a bright red color. It is quite thick, in that is lines down, in order to protect itself from Beys designed to hit the Spin Track. Due to this, it provides great Defense from low attacking Beys, for example, Mercury Anubis as it tips over and hits small attackers. It is also currently the highest Track.

  +
{{Part|Performance Tip - WD}}
Because its the highest Track, it has made a large impact on the metagame. Before Byxis' release, small and low Beyblades dominated competitive play, but the 230 Spin Track is not greatly affected by shorter Beyblades at all. So, for example, a bey like Mercury Anubis with an 85 spin track would hardly affect Flame Byxis.

Higher Tracks such as 130 or higher are recommended for battle against 230. 230's only downfall, is being attacked by Beys with high tracks that spin to the left, such as L-Drago. Triple Height 170 outclasses 230 due to it's ability to change height from 170, to 195, and to 220. Unless you want to make it smash from above. The sharp series of Performance Tips should never be used with 230 due to height and unbalance. It is a great spin track nevertheless, and very useful for Defense. Contrary to the looks of this Beyblade, it will not get "thrown" around the stadium when hit from underneath, instead, if the attack is successful, Byxis will destabilize itself and begin to tip. This track was also released in a few colors, The original, pink, and then red. Duo Uranus has a gold 230, Flash Sagittario has a clear-tan 230. A black version was released in the Phantom Orion extra bottom(s) set.

Wide Defense, as its name implies, is the widest of the “Defense” series of Performance Tips (D, SD, WD, EWD and PD). It's width provides many advantages, but also some disadvantages too. Wide Defense has arguably been called the "best Stamina Performance Tip available if used in the right combination". Unlike many other tips, Wide Defense has a lot of Stamina. Aside from all of this, Wide Defense can also have good balance. This tip can be sometimes used to beat Attack types by using a weak shot. It is a bright red in color.

==Trivia==

*Putting 230 and WD together makes this Beyblade charge at random around the field at low speed, making 230 and WD together a Balance-Type.

*The [[Hasbro]] release of Flame Byxis, has the Face Bolt 230 Spin Track, and WD colored red, instead of a pink color like the Takara Tomy version and the Energy Ring a turquoise color.

*Flame Byxis is the only Maximum Series Beyblade that kept its original Japanese name.

*Flame Byxis can jump if it got hit roughly by an opponent Bey due to its 230 track.

*Unlike most printed face bolts, the Hasbro release of the red Byxis Face is quite unappealing to most people. Due to this, most bladers put the face sticker on their clear face bolt or another red face bolt, and use that instead.

*Flame Byxis is the first Beyblade to have the 230WD combo, with [http://beyblade.wikia.com/wiki/Duo_Uranus_230WD Duo Uranus] being the second. [[Flash Sagittario 230WD|Flash Sagittario]] is the third.

*Its Special Move, Destiny Needle, looks like its Clear Wheel.

*Flame Byxis' Fusion Wheel in the Anime is said to have weights in it that help centrifugal force, but it did not have weights in it when released.

*The 230 and WD combo in a beyblade is usualy considered a Stamina-type bey, but the Flame Wheel changes this.

Flame Byxis 230WD is a Balance-type Beyblade released as part of the Hybrid Wheel System. It was released in Japan in November 2010 for 787円.

Face Bolt: Byxis

Main article: Face Bolt - Byxis

The Face depicts Pyxis, one of the 88 constellations in space. Pyxis represents the mariner’s compass.

Energy Ring: Byxis

Main article: Energy Ring - Byxis

Byxis was originally released in a turquoise green color. It is overall round in shape, and has four arrows. There are two large arrows, on which stickers can be placed with the remaining two arrows having a dark blue color. The Energy Ring represents a compass, with four circular symbols to represent North, South, East, and West. Byxis’s unique shape meanwhile allows it to be used in conjunction with certain Fusion Wheels to expose their contact points more prominently, thus resulting in higher attack power.

Fusion Wheel: Flame

Main article: Fusion Wheel - Flame

The Fusion Wheel Flame is predominantly circular, with two small spikes and two additional smaller gaps on its circumference. The Fusion Wheel is relatively thin throughout, with the very edge of the Fusion Wheel being slightly thicker. Due to the design of Flame where the Fusion Wheel’s perimeter is raised slightly, more of the Spin Track below is exposed compared to other Fusion Wheels, hence making it easier for other Beyblades to strike its Spin Track. This significantly reduces its Defense capabilities. However, the raised perimeter allows slightly more wobbling time, as the raised Wheel reduces floor scraping.

Spin Track: 230

Main article: Spin Track - 230

230 is the tallest Spin Track released in the Metal Saga toyline. It was first released with Flame Byxis 230WD as part of the Maximum Series, and was advertised as the "Maximum Height" for Spin Tracks. 230 has six indents near the top that sharpen downwards to the middle of the Spin Track. 230 is rounder and thicker than other regular Spin Tracks with no gimmicks, in order to protect it structurally when it comes into contact with opposing Fusion Wheels. Its round and smooth shape results in significantly less recoil than if it were based on the traditional hexagonal Spin Track shape.

Since 230 is so tall, it can wobble at great lengths for extra Stamina, defeating various Stamina Type customizations with lower Tracks. From a defensive viewpoint, 230 uses its height as an advantage to protect itself from low incoming Attacks, by protecting the Fusion Wheel from major contact while using the reinforced plastic to absorb most of the shock. As a result of this, 230 can defeat most low Attack customizations under the 120 height when paired with other top-tier Defense parts.

230 also has some notable weaknesses, however. As a Defense Type Spin Track, 230 is extremely susceptible to tall Spin Track opposite spin Attack Type customizations. Additionally, 230 is outclassed by the likes of Triple Height 170 (TH170), which offers the same height and also the versatility of the height change gimmick.

Performance Tip: WD

Main article: Performance Tip - WD

Wide Defense (WD) retains the two curved holes D contained but are now thinner, smaller and found on the Sharp tip.

Being wider brings advantages and disadvantages to WD. An advantage is being able to conserve better Stamina than D and SD, due to the more surface area as well as being able to spin at a lower spin-rate that that of D or SD which cannot. A disadvantage however, is that it is worse at regaining balance than D. The wide shape gives WD a harder time to regain its balance whereas, D does it much easier. This should take into consideration when using a Spin Track such as 230 or TH170. D would be a better choice than WD as it would regain balance much easier to help cope with 230. However, while D can regain balance better, it cannot maintain it as well as WD, especially with the heights of 170 and above.

At release, WD has found quick use as a Stamina-Type Tip, much better than D and has become top-tier. Despite this however, as many more Performance Tips like AS, EWD, and B:D were released; they have overshadowed WD. EWD has also overshadowed WD due to EWD's bearing to regain balance better and much better Stamina. W²D performs basically the same as WD though but with worse balance but better attack.

Wide Defense (WD) has significant defensive capabilities as well, but because it still uses a form of sharp tip, its friction with the stadium floor is decreased, which as a result makes it easier to knock around than a Tip like WB which has much more friction with the stadium floor. But since it can recover quickly, it does not matter.

Some Bladers experience a fast movement from Wide Defense, allowing the Wide Defense tip with fast movement to be paired with high-recoil fusion wheels such as Vulcan, Beat, Fang, Spiral, Flash, or Variares, to create powerful, or even a 1-Hit KO Attack-type combos, or be paired with low-recoil fusion wheels such as Bakushin, Duo, Gravity (Perseus Stamina), Fusion, Wing, Death to create counter-attacking Defense-Type combos.

Overall

Flame Byxis 230WD contains a few useful parts. When released, 230 silenced a great majority of previously dominant Stamina, Defense and Attack combos. While it is now outclassed by TH170 and a few other Tracks, 230 is a more easily found alternative that still retains one of the most important elements of TH170; its height. Flame Byxis is a welcome addition to an already well-furnished competitive collection.
