The Forge Disc™[Notes 1] is a component of Beyblade Burst™ tops. Within the Beyblade Burst™ Performance Top System™, the Forge Disc™ is (structurally) the second layer of the top's anatomy and affects movement patterns, balance, and weight. Overview
Forge Discs™ are typically a single-piece component, usually composed entirely of die-cast metal. This components comes in a variety of shapes and weight; a rapid departure from the classic Weight Disks of Beyblades from the first generation.
Design-wise, Forge Discs™ are assembled similarly in the manner that first generation Weight Disks (specifically the Hard Metal System series) and second generation Fusion Wheels, being primarily the middle layer of the top's structure.
Classifications of Forged Discs
Single-Piece Forge Discs
This class of Forge Discs are single-piece components, usually composed entirely of zinc alloy and come available in various shapes, weights, and designs. These Forge Discs were originally released in Japan in 2015, with the launch of Takara Tomy's Beyblade Burst product line.
Alongside the standard, zinc alloy Forge Discs, a special type of Single-Piece Forge Discs were also produced called "Material Fusion Discs"[Notes 2] which are Forge Discs constructed using plastic and zinc alloy parts. Earlier examples include the Magnum Disc, Jerk Disc, and Polish Disc, with additional entries being introduced further into production. Many of these later entries were featured in the Gatinko Layer series, including the Blitz Disc, Sting Disc, and Hurricane Disc.
Disc-Integrated Parts
In Japan, Takara-Tomy marketed these parts as Disk-integrated Types [Notes 3] and, as the name suggests, are parts which feature built-in Forge Discs in their structure. Examples of these parts include the Nightmare Longinus (nL) Layer from B-97 Starter: Nightmare Longinus.Ds, the Mugen Driver from the Mugen Beystadium DX Set, the Mugen-L Driver from the Cho-Z Musou Beystadium, the Hybrid Driver from the B-153 Set: Gatinko Customize Set, the Ignition Dash Driver and the Double Chassis parts from the Superking Layer System. Internationally, Hasbro marketed these parts of "Fused parts" with the only example of this (currently) being the Lúinor L3 (LD01) Fused Energy Layer and Forge Disc.
Two-Part Forge Discs
This type of Forge Disc allows players (Bladers) the capability to customize their Forge Disc [Notes 4] using interchangeable Rings[1][Notes 5]. Separated into their individual components, the die-cast metal component can function independently as a standard Forge Disc would, with Rings serving as optional accessories which cannot be actively deployed unless equipped. These Rings come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and designs and can drastically alter a Forge Discs performance in battle.
