This article is about the second Dragon Gatinko Chip. For the first Dragon Gatinko Chip, see Gatinko Chip - Dragon 1. For Hasbro's HyperSphere Chip, see GT Chip - Evo Dragon D5.

Dragon (ドラゴン, Doragon) is a Gatinko Chip released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Gatinko Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-154 DX Booster, Imperial Dragon Ignition', on November 16th, 2019. It later debuted in western countries with the release of Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack, Command Dragon Vanguard-P Quick'.

Description

The motif is of the legendary phantom beast, Dragon. A right-spin Gatinko Chip that has three hard locks and maximizes Burst Resistance.
— Official Description

Dragon 2[1] (or simply Dragon) is a right-spin Gatinko Chip that features the side profile of the Gatinko Chip's namesake: a dragon and its claws. Dragon 2 has a standard weight for Gatinko Chips, and high Burst Resistance. Dragon 2 features three hard locks that give Dragon 2 high Burst Resistance, even when a Dash Driver is not used. When paired with the Goku Layer Weight, Dragon 2 is an ideal Gatinko Chip to use in right-spin Combinations.

Hasbro's Pro Series Dragon is virtually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Dragon 2, but manufactured with weaker materials.

Overall

Due to its high Burst Resistance, Dragon 2 is one of the best right-spin Gatinko Chips, on par with Achilles. Although a must-have among Gatinko Layer System parts, Gatinko Layer System Energy Layers are too light to be competitive in the current metagame.

As such, Dragon 2 is recommended for collection purposes only.

Due to its high Burst Resistance, Dragon 2 is a must-have if a Blader plans to use a right-spin Layer Base in the WBO's Burst Limited Format. However, as Gatinko Layers are not particularly competitive in this format, it is not a necessity.

As such, Dragon 2 is not a must have but is instead a welcome addition to a blader's collection.

Dragon 2 is not legal in the WBO's Burst Classic Format.

As such, Dragon 2 is recommended for collection purposes only.
