Gigant Gaia Quarter Fusion (ギガントガイア・クオーター・フュージョン, Giganto Gaia Kuōtā Fyūjon) is a Balance Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It was released in Japan on December 28th, 2016 for 972円 as one of the prize Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 5 Gigant Gaia.Q.F.

Energy Layer - Gigant Gaia[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Gigant Gaia

Takara Tomy's Gigant Gaia is a Balance Type Energy Layer featuring two rows of four blades resembling stones, two golem heads on either sides like the Layer's namesake, the Greek Primordial Deity Gaia, and a large 'G' around the center of the Layer.

The direction, shape and downward angle of the two rows of "stones" are similar to the blades of Wyvern except that the stones are much thicker and the angle that they protrude from is more obtuse, like the blades of Victory Valkyrie. The sides two golem heads create points of Burst Attack and the top of the heads create a smooth, low-recoil surface. This is meant to give Gigant Gaia a mix of Defense and Attack properties, however, the angle and spacing between the stones are too small for decent Attack potential.

Instead, Gigant Gaia's potential lies within Defense; the stones deflect attacks creating a low recoil surface perfect for Knock-Out Defense Combinations and the teeth on Gigant Gaia alternate between "medium tall" to "short" giving Gigant Gaia strong Burst Resistance, greater than Wyvern due to the similar blades and stronger teeth. However, this Layer's Stamina is only average compared to Layers such as Wyvern, Odin or Neptune, giving combinations using Gigant Gaia a risk of being Out-Spun.

Forge Disc - Quarter[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Quarter

Quarter is a Disc with a wide, round, pipe-like shape interrupted by four rounded rectangular protrusions, on one of the protrusions is a small, marked elevation that creates the look of the letter 'Q'. Like all Forge Discs, it has two tabs that protrude from the top and fit in the slots in the Energy Layer. These tabs are marked with a stylized 'Q' for identification.

Quarter's gimmick is that it is highly unbalanced, it achieves this by being mostly hollow on the underside, with the marked protrusion being half filled in with metal. A weight distribution like this has two primary uses.

The first is to increase the Smash Attack of Attack Combinations as the unbalanced nature creates momentum like a flail, this is further enhanced by the weight of Quarter which is greater than Heavy or Gravity. However, the off-set weight distribution is too little to increase Attack potential meaningfully while also severely increasing the risk of Self-Bursts.

The second is to make a Combination using an unbalanced layer, like Xcalibur, more properly balanced by placing the heavier corner opposite the heavier side of the Layer which increases its Stamina and Burst Resistance.

Furthermore, this same unbalanced nature makes Quarter unsuitable for Stamina and Defense Combinations as the more unbalanced a Beyblade is, the easier it is to Burst.

Performance Tip - Fusion[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Fusion

Fusion features a plastic flat tip with a small diameter and a small protrusion in the center, akin to Flat Sharp from Metal Fight Beyblade, and sits at the standard height. The center of the Driver also contains an embossed logo featuring a stylized letter "F" for easy differentiation from other Drivers.

When launched parallel to the stadium, Fusion will spin on the protrusion, creating a stable, Stamina-conserving spin. When knocked off balance by the opponent or launched at an angle, the flat tip will contact the stadium floor and create a movement pattern with the same speed as Accel before returning to balancing on the protrusion.

However the aggressive movement is unreliable as the protrusion can slow a Fusion Combination down in the center of the stadium or stop the movement entirely. Furthermore, the small size of the protrusion means that when a Fusion Combination slows down and lists, contact will be made with the flat base, severely reducing Stamina.
