Greatest Raphael Over High Xtend+' (グレイテストラファエル・オーバー・ハイエクステンドプラスダッシュ, Gureitesuto Rafaeru Ōbā Hai Ekusutendo Purasu Dasshu) is a Balance Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dynamite Battle Layer System. It was released as a Booster in Japan on November 13th, 2021 for 1760円.

In the anime/manga series, it replaces Rashad's Savior Valkyrie Shot-7.

Energy Layer - Greatest Raphael

Main article: Energy Layer - Greatest Raphael

Takara Tomy's Greatest Raphael is a round Layer that features the face of the Layer's namesake, Raphael, an archangel from Abrahamic religions. Greatest Raphael is one of two Layers to feature the "Overdrive System" gimmick: when its spin velocity decreases, Greatest Raphael will change from its Attack Mode to its Defense Mode. Unlike other Dynamite Battle Layers, Greatest Raphael is a single piece, combining the "DB Core", "Blade", and "Armor" together; it is the first non-customizable Layer released by Takara Tomy since the Gatinko Layer System's Bigbang Genesis in early 2020.

Its initial Attack Mode features a round shape with eight protrusions along its perimeter. Six of these protrusions are spike-like, with three on each side of the Armor, which is named the "Greatest Armor". In the latter half of a battle, as spin velocity decreases, the Armor will swing upwards toward the center. This gimmick is intended to create Centralized Weight Distribution (CWD) in its Defense Mode, helping maintain balance in the latter half of a battle.

In addition, Greatest Raphael has a "Metal Burst Lock" gimmick that activates as part of the Overdrive System. As spin velocity decreases, two metal protrusions on the left and right grooves of Greatest Raphael gradually move towards the center of the Layer, obstructing the Disc and creating resistance, lowering the risk of Bursting.

Greatest Raphael has medium sized Locks, resulting in decent Burst Resistance. Against Same-Spin opponents, Greatest Raphael falters due to being lighter than other Dynamite Battle Layers. However, against Opposite-Spin opponents, Greatest Raphael excels in Spin Equalization, due to the activation of its Defense Mode in the latter half of the battle. However, the activation of its Defense Mode can be stopped if the Armor is hit during the transformation, causing only one half or neither to activate. If a Blader is to use Greatest Raphael, it is recommended to pair it with Drivers such as Mobius or Drift against Opposite-Spin opponents.

Forge Disc - Over

DiskOver
Main article: Forge Disc - Over

Over is a circular DB Disc and one of the heaviest Forge Discs, with an ideal weight distribution for any combination. Its design is a homage to Oval and 0.

Over's circular design creates high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) and Stamina potential. Due to its smooth circular perimeter, Over also has high Life-After-Death (LAD). Its heavy weight also grants it high Attack and Defense potential.

Performance Tip - High Xtend+'

Main article: Performance Tip - High Xtend+'

Takara Tomy's High Xtend+' is a High and Dash Driver variant of Xtend+, featuring a taller height than the standard Performance Tip, as well as increased Burst Resistance due to a stronger spring. Like its regular counterpart, High Xtend+' features the adjustable Xtend Chip (エクステンドチップ, Ekusutendo Chippu) tip with three modes: Attack, Defense and Stamina.

The Attack Mode features a wide, hollow flat tip, wider than Assault and akin to Zephyr at the standard height of most Performance Tips. Due to the surface area of this mode, High Xtend+' will create a highly aggressive movement pattern with speeds greater than Assault. However, the wide diameter of the tip makes it difficult to maintain a banking pattern and creates relatively low Stamina, making the mode poorly suited for both traditional Attack and Tornado Stalling Combinations.

The Defense Mode features a low angle, stepped cone tip at the standard height of most Performance Tips. Due to the stepped cone, when an High Xtend+' Combination is struck and reaches higher on the Stadium's slope, the flat edge of the tip will create a second point of contact, briefly increasing friction and aggression to both slow down the Combination and counterattack. However, due to the edge of the tip being made of plastic rather than rubber like in Unite and smooth rather than tabbed like in Defense, the effect of the second point of contact is minimal, creating poor Knock-Out Resistance.

The Stamina Mode features a low angle cone tip, akin to Trans' Stamina Mode at a lower height than most Performance Tips. Due to the low friction, High Xtend+' creates excellent Stamina. Of the three modes, the Stamina Mode has the best performance.

In all three modes, the tip's low angled base and wide diameter grant High Xtend+' high Life-After-Death potential, comparable to Zone'+Z and Bearing'.

Trivia

  • Greatest Raphael's name is a combination of the adjective "greatest", a phrase of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average, and "Raphael", an archangel[2] and one of the three heavenly visitors entertained by Abraham at the Oak of Mamre from Abrahamic religions.
  • Like the three Mugen Lock System Beyblades from Beyblade Burst Rise, Greatest Raphael is the only Dynamite Battle System Beyblade to utilize an Energy Layer rather than the DB Core, Blade and Armor.
  • This Beyblade reuses a part from another Beyblade:
