Guardian Kerbeus K4 Heavy Survive-S is a Stamina Type Beyblade released by Hasbro as part of the Burst System as well as the SlingShock System. It was released in western countries as a part of the Guardian Kerbeus K4 and Blizzard-X Giga Gaianon G4 Dual Pack for CAD$19.99 in Canada, USD$14.99 in the United States, and AUD$29.99 in Australia.

Energy Layer - Guardian Kerbeus K4[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Guardian Kerbeus K4

Hasbro's Guardian Kerbeus K4 is a Defense Type Energy Layer that features three dog heads along the perimeter, two from a downward profile and one from a side profile, meant to represent the Layer's namesake, the mythological three-headed hound Cerberus. Despite being based on a God Layer System Energy Layer, Guardian Kerbeus K4 is instead part of the SlingShock System rather than the SwitchStrike System, and thus lacks the flexible, soft plastic chains that facilitated the "Bound Defense" gimmick of its Takara Tomy counterpart, Guardian Kerbeus. However, as the effects of this gimmick were negligible, the lack of this gimmick does not create a noticeable change in performance. Furthermore, unlike its Takara Tomy counterpart, Guardian Kerbeus K4 has strong Burst Resistance thanks to its tight slopes, negating the high Burst risk caused by Guardian Kerbeus's weak teeth.

Forge Disc - Heavy[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Heavy

Heavy is a primarily circular Forge Disc, sporting a ring-like shape with numerous ridges on its interior that is interrupted by four rectangular protrusions designed to look like armored plates. As its name suggests, Heavy was the heaviest Forge Disc in the Burst System for a considerable period of time, until Gravity, which also weighs 21.6 grams, and Quarter, which weighs 21.8 grams were released. Despite this, Heavy is still one of the heaviest Forge Discs in the game, making it a popular choice for many Bladers. As its weight is a welcome asset to nearly any Beyblade, it enjoys a wide variety of uses on Combinations of all types. Heavy's high weight and compact shape gives it a Centralized Weight Distribution (CWD), making it particularly useful for Burst Attack as it will maximize the RPM of the Beyblade. This same weight distribution also makes it considerably more difficult to Burst than Gravity, the other disc in its weight class, at the cost of a significant amount of Stamina. Because of this, it is a better option for a Knock-Out Defense Combination than Gravity as Knock-Out Defense Combinations rely on high friction and weight to remain in the stadium, at the same time increasing their vulnerability to Bursting. However, due to its weight, Heavy is still more prone to Bursting than most lighter competitive Forge Discs such as Spread, Knuckle, and Armed.

Performance Tip - Survive-S[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Survive-S

Survive-S, as its name implies, is a SlingShock Performance Tip based off of Survive. However, unlike the original Survive, Survive-S is significantly taller and it features two tabs on either side that are connected to its low-angled cone tip, which is meant for the activation of its "SlingShock Mode". As a part of the SlingShock System, Survive-S can be manually altered to switch between "Battle Ring Mode" and "SlingShock Mode"; in this case, by sliding its tabs to the other side and vice-versa, akin to Flugel-S.

In "Battle Ring Mode", Survive-S' low-angled cone tip is exposed from its tall cylinder base and sets it at a height taller than most Performance Tips, similar or identical to the height of Wedge-S (Battle Ring Mode). Like Survive, the cone tip of Survive-S is capable of rebounding from attacks, allowing it to avoid potential Knock-Outs and take back the center, which also allows it to resist roaming for the most part. While it is taller than Survive, which does imply the risk of Destabilization, Survive-S has enough Stability to take a majority of hits without losing almost all of its balance and roaming too early, unlike most other Stamina-based Performance Tips.

In "SlingShock Mode", the tabs inside Survive-S loosen up its low-angled cone tip, and is thus hidden underneath its cylinder base, creating the shape of wide hole-flat tip that also sets it at a noticeably shorter height. This mode is meant to make the Survive-S Combination fast enough to ride the Rail System of the SlingShock Beystadium/Rail Rush Beystadium and clash head-on with the opponent without their Forge Disc scraping against it. While Survive-S' "SlingShock Mode" makes it more aggressive than when its in "Battle Ring Mode", this mode has one major flaw; this being its inability to maintain a Banking Pattern, which is due to the wide surface area of the hole-flat tip. As a result, the Survive-S Combination must rely heavily on continuously hitting the opponent in order to keep a Banking Pattern going.

However, while this drawback may imply that "Battle Ring Mode" has greater success, "SlingShock Mode" makes Survive-S capable of Tornado Stalling; which is more effective than Zephyr and Iron, granting Survive-S greater versatility over Survive and as a result, outclasses both Zephyr and Iron for Tornado Stalling. Furthermore, when paired up with Layers that excel in Knock-Out Attack, such as Boom Khalzar K3, Survive-S can be used in Knock-Out Attack Combinations as well. However, in that case, it is mainly effective against opponents that stray too close to the Tornado Ridge.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first Slingshock System Beyblade that does not come with a Core Disc.
  • In the Beyblade Burst App, the Guardian Kerbeus K4 Energy Layer was formerly incorrectly given the alternate name "Hazard Kerbeus". This is in fact the name of a different SlingShock System Layer, Hazard Kerbeus K4.
