Jack (ジャック, Jakku) is a recurring character in the Metal Saga, first appearing in Beyblade: Metal Masters as one of the antagonists.

He is a member of the Team Star Breaker, representing America in Big Bang Bladers. Jack is an artistically obsessed blader who makes works of art with his Beyblade, Evil Befall UW145EWD. He later makes a brief reappearance in Beyblade: Metal Fury.

Physical Appearance

Jack has long wavy light burgundy colored hair. He wears a blueish-green jacket with yellow highlights with a purple shirt underneath. He wears white gloves as well as a black masquerade mask that leads to a point at the nose. Also, he wears dark blue lipstick.

In Beyblade: Metal Fury, he returns with an all new look. He removed the mask and face paint. He still has the blue lipstick and the white gloves. He swapped his original jacket for a grey one. Under that, he wears a teal shirt. He has brown trousers and a white and yellow belt. Jack has new black boots and wears something around his neck. The wardrobe change could be due to Jack being taken off the Arrangement System.

Personality

"The Pitiful Baby Goat"

Jack comes off as strange to most people. He is very self-absorbed artist and seems to live in his own world most of the time. Anything that can't compare to art one way or another is worthless to him. Even in his battle style, his art obsession clearly shows - he doesn't beyblade for the sake of the sport, but rather uses it as a tool to create artwork. He's absolutely ruthless and doesn't care about other people's well-being. Jack is even easily willing to turn a human being into 'art' by wounding them.

Jack's mental state appears to have become considerably unstable due to the influence of the Arrangement System. Destruction of his artwork causes him to break down immediately. Nevertheless, he states to love the system and its influence on him, even exclaiming it's a good thing that it changes ones personality. He himself, so he claims, has become more free and closer to the world of art due to it, a thing for which he is thankful.

Socially, Jack clearly distinguishes between people he's interested in and everyone else. That differentiation is not made based on strength, as even Gingka or Masamune do not catch his attention. The only people Jack wishes to interact with are those who he deems elegant, like Ryuga or Tsubasa. Even here, he sees human beings as art rather than as people. He's very dettached and unable to comprehend other bladers' emotions in any way.

By the time of Metal Fury, with the Arrangement influence wearing off, Jack's personality appears toned down and a lot calmer, although he still behaves almost the same as he used to.

Plot

Beyblade: Metal Masters

Jack first appeared after Ryuga beats bladers from Hadies Inc the dragon emperor says he may give him a fight. When he gets ready to battle him Jack shows that he doesn't have a bey much to the shock of Ryuga. It is Jack who leads Ryuga to HD Academy for "testing", which was viewing L-Drago's left spin capabilities. Even though he participated, Ryuga only desired to face Jack, interested through all his talk, but Jack tells him that his bey is not completed yet. As a compromise, Jack offers Ryuga a match with Zeo Abyss as the next best thing. He watches the fight and becomes impressed with Ryuga's powers. Ziguguart introduces himself to Ryuga following the formers victory over Zeo and tells him to join Hades inc. Ryuga refuses and blows a hole in the building with L-Drago, leaving in the wake of his destruction. Jack is then seen making art when he gets a visit from Dr. Zigguart who tells him that Evil Befall UW145EWD is now complete. Jack takes his new bey and says he will make great art with it. He and Damian appear in the stadium to battle Team Excalibur. Jack ends up battling against Klaus in the first round. The match starts with Klaus using his special move, Claw of the Storm, but Evil Befall takes no damage. Grand Capricorn 145D uses barrage attacks on Evil Befall but, it still takes no damage. Jack explains that Befall has limitless stamina and will spin forever. Grand Capricorn continues its attacks but Evil Befall counters and it attacks to cut through the stadium. It clashes against Grand Capricorn and leaves scratches on its fusion wheel. It also continues to cut through the stadium and chases after Grand Capricorn. Jack uses his special move, Befall The Ripper, to attack Grand Capricorn and cuts through the whole stadium. Klaus uses Claw of the Storm again to attack from the air, but Evil Befall counters it. Julian encourages Klaus to win and not lose a second time. Klaus begins to power up and Capricorn regains it balance. Klaus rips his shirt while Capricorn begins to charge at Befall. Jack uses his second special move, Beautiful Dead and Klaus uses his second one, Steel Darkness. Both special moves clash with each other causing an explosion. Grand Capricorn stops spinning while standing up, covered in scratches. Evil Befall comes down to the stadium while still spinning. Jack wins and tells Klaus that he has become a part of his masterpiece. Damian later defeats Julian Konzern, Sophie and Wales all by himself causing Star Breaker to move on to the finals against GanGan Galaxy.

Jack returns to Hades Inc for proper adjustments and gets his arrangement done by the time of the final battle. His team is set to face GanGan Galaxy although they are still down two members thanks to Damian's attack on Tsubasa and Yu. He joins Zeo and Damian to the stadium where they are only met by Gingka Hagane and Masamune Kadoya. Expecting to defeat GanGan in two rounds, Zeo steps up as the first member and uses his arrangement to defeat Masamune. Jack is scheduled to battle Gingka next, but Ryuga and Meteo L-Drago Assault LW105JB crash the party, with Ryuga challenging Jack to battle. Because Ryuga is not of age and had yet to participate in the tournament, he is therefore eligible to step up and is thus given the green light to face Jack. Their match begins as Jack seems to already know what Ryuga is capable of. The latter is not moved by this, as he knows he has much in store for the artistic Blader. Jack expresses his uncanny taste for art as he appears to unleash his abilities upon Ryuga. Jack also claims that Ryuga is too much of a "brute" to understand his beauty, but Ryuga remains calm as he waits out Jack's attacks one after another. Everyone begins to fear Ryuga's self-destruction, but after Jack releases all of his powers, Ryuga reveals that he was merely testing him to measure his strength and kicks his L-Drago into top gear. Ryuga releases his counterattack against Jack, who he feels is no match for himself. Though Jack becomes furious and fights back with the rest of his might, Ryuga stays confident that he cannot lose to someone who uses "pet food" to get stronger rather than true training. Using his Blader's Spirit, Ryuga overcomes the odds and makes Jack into his own work of art, defeating him with the Dragon Emperor - Supreme Flight. After obtaining Team GanGan Galaxy's first victory for them and showing Hades Inc to not mess with him, Ryuga leaves without a word. Gingka and Galaxy Pegasus W105R2F then defeat Damian and Hades Kerbecs BD145DS causing GanGang Galaxy to win the World Championships.

Jack is later fully arranged with Gingka's data. During the championship celebration, Jack accompanies Dr. Ziggurat and the others allied with Hades to it, where they announce the Spiral Force. The Spiral Force is a weapon that uses a Beyblade called Twisted Tempo to power it as the ultimate, unlimited energy source. It is powered by an arranged Toby renamed Faust, and Ziggurat plans to sell it by transferring it across the world with the floating empire, Hades City. When Gingka and his friends plan to stop the Weapon and free Toby, Damian and Jack are ordered to capture Gingka causing a giant battle to break out. Damian and Jack chase Gingka across the city and nearly capture him using Hades Gate, until he is saved by Kyoya Tategami who arrives to aid his long time rival. Damian and Jack are then ordered to retreat as they have taken too long and Hades City is preparing to launch. Jack then gets arranged once again and startles Tsubasa Otori and Yu Tendo. Madoka Amano introduces Jack to them while Jack challenges Tsubassa to battle. Yu gets stuck in the arrangement thinking it is a bed. Tsubassa excepts and tells Jack that if he wins Yu will be set free. Tsubasa and Jack launch their Beys and both clash. Jack use his special move, Befall The Ripper, to make a statue out of Tsubasa. Evil Befall UW145EWD goes through a pillar to attack Earth Eagle 145 WD and Jack names the pillar, Practice Piece. Eagle attacks Befall and sends it into a pillar. Jack has Befall go through through another pillar to attack Eagle and names his third art, Distress. Evil Befall goes through all the pillars and Earth Eagle dodges the broken pieces. Befall sends Eagle through a pillar and continues to attack. Jack regrets that his true masterpiece couldn't be fulfill at the World Championships. Tsubasa asks him can he understand the regret he had of not being able to bbattle at the final battle. Evil Befall continues to push back Earth Eagle. Yu launches Flame Libra T125ES and uses his special move, Inferno Blast, to get out of the arrangement. Tsubasa uses his special move, Shining Tornado Buster, and Jack uses his second special move, Beautiful Dead. Both special moves clash and Tsubasa defeats Jack. jack then tries to get another arrangement only for Yu to tell him is busted. Jack cries in agony over the loss of the arrangement. He is last seen alongside Damian surviving the crash of Hades City, in a boat along with other Hades Inc Bladers.

Trivia

  • Interestingly, 3 of the 4 Bladers in Hades City have their Bey related with Hades. Kerbecs is the Guardian Dog of Hades, Befall is the symbolizes it and Destroyer (Perseus) is a mythological hero that borrows an invisibility helmet from Hades.
  • He is similar to Juda from Hokuto no Ken anime series, because of his appearance.
  • He is also similar to Asuka Kami from B-Daman Crossfire, due to having peacock motif and similar narcissistic personality along with a strong sense of beauty towards things.
  • After Metal Masters, he still uses Evil Befall UW145EWD, while the other former members of the Team Star Breakers don't use the beys that Dr. Ziggurat gave them anymore.
  • At the end of episode 33, he seems to have purple aura even though his bey has pink aura.
  • It is possible that his name and special move are references to Jack the Ripper. Further, his name references the Japanese word 'Kujaku', meaning 'Peacock'.
  • Furthermore, his seiyu, Kouki Uchiyama also shares his first name with Kouki from Beyblade Metal Fusion Battle Fortress. Even more, Jack and Kouki shares same Peacock Beyblade.
  • As of The New Striker is Finished!, Jack has been confirmed to not have won a single battle before joining the HD Academy.
  • Every member of Team Star Breaker was sent out once to bring Ryuga to the Academy. Jack was the only one who succeeded in this task.
  • He and Zeo Abyss use a Light Launcher 2 with their 3 Segment Launcher Grip.
  • In the Destroyer Dome, he is defeated by Jigsaw easily. This could be due to the discontinuation of his arrangement.
