Metsu (滅, Metsu) is a Layer Weight released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Gatinko Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-144 Booster, Zwei Longinus Drake Spiral' Metsu, on June 22nd, 2019. It later debuted in western countries with the release of Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack, Zwei Luinor Blitz-P Xtend+ Metsu.

Description

A Weight built into a Layer. A Weight that concentrates its weight in two places on the left and right to further enhance the Attack performance of a Base.
— Official Description

Metsu is a Layer Weight with four hexagons, two on each side, resulting in a Z shape. Its weight is distributed at each of these hexagons, allowing it to synergize well with two-sided Layer Bases such as Judgement and Zwei. However, it is not as heavy as the Goku Layer Weight, and thus is outclassed in Attack Combinations. While it is lighter than the Ten Layer Weight, Metsu has a superior weight distribution for Attack Combinations, and thus can be used as a second choice Layer Weight if Goku is unavailable.

Overall

On its release, Metsu was among one of the must-have Layer Weights, alongside Goku and Ten. However, Gatinko Layer System Energy Layers are too light to be competitive in the current metagame.

As such, Metsu is recommended for collection purposes only.

Metsu is not legal in the WBO's Burst Limited Format.
