Legend Spriggan 5Reach Eternal (レジェンドスプリガン・ファイブリーチ・エターナル, Regendo Supurigan Faibu Rīchi Etānaru) is a Stamina Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It was released in Japan on February 16th, 2019 for 993円 as one of eight possible Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 14 Driger Fang.0.Xt.

Energy Layer - Legend Spriggan[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Legend Spriggan
The motif is of the treasure guarding giant, Spriggan. A dual-spin Balance Type God Layer with a built-in Metal God Chip in the center of the Layer, which can deliver a strong attack when rotating clockwise and a smash attack when rotating counterclockwise.
— Official Description

Takara Tomy's Legend Spriggan is a Balance Type Energy Layer made from four large blades, two of which feature faces on them which are meant to represent the Layer's namesake; Spriggans, monsters of Cornish Faery Lore, and the center of the Layer features a large double bladed axe, meant to represent the weapon of the anime's rendition of this Layer's beast. As part of the God Layer System, Legend Spriggan features gimmicks;

The Layer contains metal in the form of an irremovable God Chip.

The Layer itself is Dual-Spin, unlike every other Layer before it, with two sets of teeth for Right-Spin Mode and Left-Spin Mode.

Due to the asymmetrical design of the Layer, Legend Spriggan's performance changes depending on the spin direction.

In Right-Spin Mode, the primary points of contact are the black blades which are sloped to facilitate Upper Attack. While the intended Upper Attack has some success, due to the thickness of the blades however, contact is more likely to be made on the tips of the blades, producing Spike Attack and subsequent high Burst Attack. However, due to how the black blades are shaped and how compact they are, Legend Spriggan can only be used on high friction and high speed rubber Tips such as Xtreme or else the Combination will Self-Burst.

In Left-Spin Mode, the primary points of contact are the flat faces of the clear blades which are meant to create Smash Attack. However, due to the nature of the Burst System, such a heavy recoil design creates a high Self-Burst risk instead. While Left-Spin Mode can work against other Left-Spin Layers such as Drain Fafnir, Right-Spin Mode has greater success overall.

Due to the high recoil design of the blades, Legend Spriggan is ill-suited for Stationary Combinations, however, the heavy weight of the Layer, shape of the blades and the strong teeth of Legend Spriggan make this Layer a top-tier choice in Attack Combinations.

Legend Spriggan has one weakness however. To facilitate the gimmick, two of the teeth on each set are made to the thickness of those found on Single Layers, meaning that the first two teeth on each set will wear down fairly quickly. Due to this, it is recommended to have multiple copies of this Layer and to be prepared to replace it.

Forge Disc - 5[]

Main article: Forge Disc - 5

5, like other odd numbered Core Discs, is asymmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. One side features two protrusions and the other features three, all molded in the shape of "5"s and the center features two small holes on either side. While the asymmetrical design may imply imbalance, the smaller size of two of the protrusions on the three lobed side ensures that the Disc is balanced. 5's overall shape resembles a reversed 4 and acts almost identically with the same high Stamina potential, Knock-Out Resistance and Life-After-Death when paired with Disc Frames such as Glaive or Cross. While 7 has greater Stamina, 5 is still comparable.

Disc Frame - Reach[]

Main article: Disc Frame - Reach

Reach features a round design with six large, clockwise blades, three of which are situated higher and three of which are situated lower on the Frame. This aggressive shape is designed to increase Burst Attack during Disc-to-Layer contact in Right-Spin Combinations. However, due to most Burst Performance Tips being of the same or very similar heights, such contact is rare and the direction of the blades reduces recoil when used on Left-Spin Combinations. While the round shape of the Frame may imply high Life-After-Death, the lower position of three of the blades creates a perimeter too rough to aid in Life-After-Death in Defense and Stamina Combinations compared to Cross and Glaive. However, Reach is one of the heavier Frames in the metagame, which grants high Attack potential when paired with Core Discs such as 0 or 7.

Performance Tip - Eternal[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Eternal

Eternal features a sharp tip of a small diameter surrounded by a free-spinning dish made of PolyOxyMethylene (POM) thermoplastic, akin to a combination of Revolve and Bearing. The sharp tip of Eternal provides low friction with the stadium floor, resulting in high Stamina and Burst Defense properties. While the small diameter of the sharp tip may imply easy Destabilization, the wide diameter of the free-spinning ring helps maintain Stability. The wide diameter of the ring also provides Eternal high Precession time which is useful against Opposite-Spin and Mobile Stamina Combinations. However, due to the low friction of POM plastic, Eternal has slightly less Knock-Out Resistance compared to its predecessor Revolve.

In the current metagame, Eternal is best suited for Pure Stamina Combinations due to the use of Atomic, akin to Revolve. While the POM ring may imply higher Precession, akin to Bearing, the lack of a bearing mechanism means that the POM construction has a negligible effect and that Precession is more dependent on how free-spinning the ring is. What does effect the Precession time is the diameter of the Dish; Eternal's dish is much wider than Revolve's, making it outclass Atomic in Precession time and outclass Revolve in most areas.

Eternal is slightly shorter than most other Pre-Cho-Z Performance Tips. In theory, this is meant to prevent the opponent's Layer from striking the Eternal Combination from below and Destabilizing it, thus increasing Defense potential. In practice however, due to the design of the Burst System, this increases the chances of Disc-to-Layer contact and can potentially Burst the Eternal Combination. Though the only minor reduction in height heavily mitigates the effect.
