The Level Chip (レベルチップ, Reberu Chippu) is an accessory released by Takara Tomy that is able to attach to Cho-Z Layers, which increases the Layer's weight and strength.

Description

The Level Chip fills in the underside of most Cho-Z and SlingShock Layers, attaching via three sockets onto the underside gap of the Layer. When attached to a Layer, it fills in the diamond-esque socket that is visible on the topside of the Layer. A Level Chip adds weight (about 0.7 grams), and increases the stability of the Layer, making them more balanced. The addition of weight increases the Layer's inertia, and thus for Attack Type combinations, it helps them hold a Banking Pattern longer than usual. The added weight also reduces the risk of Bursts and increases Stamina. In addition, the Level Chip makes the Layer's locking mechanism tighter than usual, increasing Burst Resistance.

Level Chips were originally released exclusively as wbba. event or CoroCoro Comic magazine freebies. There was only a single regular release of the Level Chip, in the B-130 Random Booster Vol. 13 Air Knight.12E.Et, where it was included with Emperor Forneus 13Meteor Survive.

Overall

Cho-Z and SlingShock Layers are heavily outclassed in the format by heavier Dynamite Battle Layers.

As such, Level Chips are not recommended for the WBO's Burst format.

A few Cho-Z Layers such as Archer Hercules and Perfect Phoenix find use in the format. Consequently, Level Chips are recommended to increase the Layer's strength.

As such, Level Chips are not a must-have but a welcome addition for the WBO's Burst GT format.

Cho-Z Layers such as Bloody Longinus, Geist Fafnir, and Hazard Kerbeus are top-tier Layer choices in the format. Consequently, Level Chips are recommended to increase the Layer's strength.

As such, Level Chips are a must-have for the WBO's Burst Limited format.

Level Chips are not legal in the WBO's Burst Classic format.
