Lost Longinus 2Reach Merge (ロストロンギヌス・ツーリーチ・マージ, Rosuto Ronginusu Tsū Rīchi Māji) is a Balance Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It was released in Japan on April 28th, 2018 for 993円 as one of eight possible Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 10 Crash Ragnaruk.11R.Wd.

Energy Layer - Lost Longinus[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Lost Longinus

Takara Tomy's Lost Longinus is a wide and heavy Energy Layer designed for Attack that features two large dragon heads, representing the anime's rendition of this Layer's beast, a dragon, that come from the perimeter in towards the center and four wings, two of which are larger and make up the main contact points and two of which are smaller and make up secondary contact points, creating an aggressive, high recoil design. The contact points of the larger wings are molded in the shape of spear heads which are meant to represent this Layer's namesake, the Roman Soldier Longinus of Christian Mythology who stabbed Christ in the heart with a lance.

Lost Longinus has two main gimmicks: The first are the dragon heads as they are made of metal. The inclusion of the metal made Lost Longinus one of the heaviest Layers in the game at the time of release. The second is the fact that this Layer is made to spin Left, opposite to every other Burst Beyblade before it.

The heavy weight of Lost Longinus generates high inertia and with the aggressive design, makes this Layer excel in Knock-Out and Burst Attack potential in Left-Spin vs. Left-Spin matches. However, the Left-Spinning nature of Lost Longinus means that it and a Right-Spin opponent's Layer will spin together like gears if they are of similar spin speed which heavily reduces recoil and rate of Bursts. However, the high recoil shape can still create strong Knock-Out potential in Opposite-Spin matches. Furthermore, it allows for some degree of Spin-Equalization, however not enough to be the primary focus for Combinations.

Lost Longinus features three teeth of medium-high length that are capable of withstanding the recoil this Layer produces, even against another Left-Spin opponent as the heavy weight further increases Burst Resistance as the Layer's higher inertia can better resist teeth skipping.

Forge Disc - 2[]

Main article: Forge Disc - 2

2, like other even numbered Core Discs, is symmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. Each side features one protrusion with "2" shaped molding on either side of the protrusion. 2 has a standard weight distribution and an average weight among Core Discs, these features allow it to act as a "Jack-of-All-Trades", capable of performing well in any type of Combination. While other Core Discs such as 4 and 7 can work better for Attack, Defense and Stamina, 2 works as an excellent alternative if those Core Discs are unavailable.

Disc Frame - Reach[]

Main article: Disc Frame - Reach

Reach features a round design with six large, clockwise blades, three of which are situated higher and three of which are situated lower on the Frame. This aggressive shape is designed to increase Burst Attack during Disc-to-Layer contact in Right-Spin Combinations. However, due to most Burst Performance Tips being of the same or very similar heights, such contact is rare and the direction of the blades reduces recoil when used on Left-Spin Combinations. While the round shape of the Frame may imply high Life-After-Death, the lower position of three of the blades creates a perimeter too rough to aid in Life-After-Death in Defense and Stamina Combinations compared to Cross and Glaive. However, Reach is one of the heavier Frames in the metagame, which grants high Attack potential when paired with Core Discs such as 0 or 7.

Performance Tip - Merge[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Merge

Merge features a six pointed flat rubber tip with a sharp plastic tip in the center, that sits at the standard height. Like its predecessor Unite, when launched straight down into the stadium, the sharp tip in the center will keep the Beyblade stable and still in the center, preventing Stamina loss.

When a mint condition Merge is either knocked off balance by an opponent or launched at an angle, the rubber will make contact with the stadium, creating an aggressive movement pattern with speeds exceeding Xtreme due to the increased surface area created by the six points. However this aggressive movement is somewhat unreliable as the sharp center can slow it down in the center of the stadium or stop the movement entirely and the greater surface area cripples Stamina.

When worn however, instead of creating aggressive movement when struck, the rubber will instead act as brakes against a Knock-Out, at the cost of Stamina, before going back to stable from the sharp center.
