Mad Minoboros 5Vortex Zephyr (マッドミノボロス・ファイブボルテックス・ゼファー, Maddo Minoborosu Faibu Borutekkusu Zefā) is a Balance Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It was released in Japan on December 28th, 2017 for 972円 as one of eight possible Beyblades in Random Booster Vol. 9 Beat Kukulcan.7U.Hn.

Energy Layer - Mad Minoboros[]

Main article: Energy Layer - Mad Minoboros

Takara Tomy's Mad Minoboros is an Attack Type Layer, based on the Greek legend of the Minotaur. It has a shape similar to the original Minoboros, but it is more aggressive in design, with the blades being more curved and flared out. It still retains a similar imbalance, however, unlike Minoboros, this Layer has less Stamina due to its more aggressive design traits. Despite the design however, this Layer does not have as many major attack points as its predecessor and therefore is not as good at Burst Attack as the original. Mad Minoboros features strong teeth to the point of "sticking", it does little to compensate for the poor performance.

Forge Disc - 5[]

Main article: Forge Disc - 5

5, like other odd numbered Core Discs, is asymmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. One side features two protrusions and the other features three, all molded in the shape of "5"s and the center features two small holes on either side. While the asymmetrical design may imply imbalance, the smaller size of two of the protrusions on the three lobed side ensures that the Disc is balanced. 5's overall shape resembles a reversed 4 and acts almost identically with the same high Stamina potential, Knock-Out Resistance and Life-After-Death when paired with Disc Frames such as Glaive or Cross. While 7 has greater Stamina, 5 is still comparable.

Disc Frame - Vortex[]

Main article: Disc Frame - Vortex

Vortex is a wide and triangular Disc Frame with wave like details on each side. While too small to come into contact with the opponent's Layer, Vortex's wide shape makes it one of the heavier Disc Frames in the game, which grants high Attack potential when paired with Core Discs such as 7 and 00.

Performance Tip - Zephyr[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Zephyr

Zephyr features a hollow plastic flat tip with a small diameter, akin to Hole Flat from Metal Fight Beyblade, and sits at the standard height. Compared to Accel, the diameter of Zephyr is slightly larger. The center of the Driver also contains an embossed logo featuring a stylized letter "Z" for easy differentiation from other Drivers. Due to the surface area, Zephyr will create an aggressive, and if launched at an angle, somewhat easily controllable movement pattern. In terms of speed, Zephyr is comparable to Accel, capable of reaching and stalling on the Tornado Ridge. Due to the plastic construction, Zephyr is an excellent choice for both Mobile Stamina and Attack/Stamina Balance Combinations.

However, Zephyr's plastic construction is also a weakness as Attack Combinations using Zephyr can lose their Banking Pattern somewhat easily, especially if the Combinations are unbalanced. Furthermore, the low friction means that Zephyr is liable to Self-Knock-Outs. Finally, due to Zephyr's hollow construction, the Driver is liable to denting in the case of Disc-to-Driver contact after a Burst.
