Orb Egis Outer Quest (オーブイージス・アウター・クエスト, Ōbu Ījisu Autā Kuesuto), stylized as Orb Egis Ωuter Quest, is a Defense Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Cho-Z Layer System. It was released in Japan on November 17th, 2018 for 5184円 as a part of the Cho-Z Customize Set.

Energy Layer - Orb Egis

Main article: Energy Layer - Orb Egis

Orb Egis is a right-spin Defense Type Energy Layer that features a trapezoid shaped design. The design of the Energy Layer depicts the legendary shield aegis from Greek mythology, featuring six serpentine heads of a Gorgon.

As part of the Cho-Z Layer System, Orb Egis features metal in its design; in this case, the inner circumference of the Energy Layer is lined with metal, along with two metal spheres on opposite sides of the Energy Layer. Its sloped contact points make it an excellent Destabiliser when used with Performance Tips such as Atomic'. Due to its high Defense potential, on release Orb Egis was a decent choice for Defense Combinations.

Hasbro's Pro Series Orb Engaard is virtually unchanged from Orb Egis, but manufactured with weaker materials.

Forge Disc - Outer

Main article: Forge Disc - Outer

Outer features a wide, almost perfectly circular shape with large gaps separating the center from the edge, these gaps are meant to increase Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) to increase Stamina while the circular perimeter increases Life-After-Death. Outer boasts the highest Stamina and Life-After-Death in the game, outclassing 2/4/5/7 Cross/Glaive Core Disc and Disc Frame Combinations while not presenting the same Burst risk as the aforementioned Core Discs and Disc Frames or similar Forge Discs such as Ring due to its weight.

Performance Tip - Quest

Main article: Performance Tip - Quest

Quest is a Defense Type Performance Tip with a free spinning, downward facing conical suction cup tip, with a sharp tip in the center. Due to the suction cup tip, a combination utilizing Quest will stick to the Stadium floor, keeping the combination in place and providing the highest Knock-Out Resistance of any Performance Tip. However, this high KO Resistance comes with a trade-off; due to the nature of its gimmick, a Quest combination will have poor Stamina and high amounts of tilt.

Trivia

  • Orb Egis is based from the word "orb", and a reference to Aegis, a significant artifact design wielded by the Greek gods Zeus and Athena to invoke powerful protection in Greek mythology, which is either depicted as a shield, sometimes bearing the carving of the Gorgon Medusa, or animal hide.
  • Its avatar is based on a snake with a stingray-shaped frill with six retractable heads on energy-based protrusions.
    • The snake heads are a reference to Medusa.
  • In the anime, Orb Egis possesses a red Level Chip.
  • This Beyblade reuses the Outer Disc from Orichalcum Outer Octa.
    • Although the Outer Disc debuted with Orichalcum, this is the first Beyblade to use the Outer Disc in the Beyblade Burst anime.
