Energy Layer - Perfect Phoenix

Perfect Phoenix is a Defense Type Energy Layer that is created by combining the Dead Armor from Dead Phoenix and the Revive Core from Revive Phoenix. The name Perfect Phoenix is derived from the fact that the Energy Layer is a combination of the heaviest Core and Armor components of the Dead Phoenix and Revive Phoenix Energy Layers. Perfect Phoenix is consequently heavier than Dead Phoenix and Revive Phoenix and outclasses both. The alternate combination featuring the lightest components is referred to as Unperfect Phoenix.

Like its predecessors, Perfect Phoenix features a bird in the center and four feathered blades that make up the bird's wings, representing the Energy Layer's namesake; the mythical immortal bird, the Phoenix. As a part of the Cho-Z Layer System, Perfect Phoenix features metal in its design, on both the Dead Armor and the Revive Core. The Dead Armor is attached to the rest of the Energy Layer via a locking mechanism, and the Armor can be knocked off during battle. While the loss of the Dead Armor makes the Energy Layer lighter, the smoother perimeter created reduces recoil. Furthermore, the Dead Armor is left in the stadium, interfering with the opponent and impeding Banking Patterns and reducing Stamina. However, this can also interfere with the Perfect Phoenix Combination.

Perfect Phoenix's design creates fantastic Outward Weight Distribution (OWD), and thus the Energy Layer excels in Stamina Combinations, eclipsing Archer Hercules upon its release as the dominant Energy Layer in the metagame. Its round perimeter has good performance against Same-Spin opponents and excellent performance against Opposite-Spin opponents. Perfect Phoenix can be used to great effect on Performance Tips such as Mobius and Xtend+.

Like other Cho-Z Layers, Perfect Phoenix is unbalanced which increases Burst risk and drains Stamina. However, these issues can be solved with the use of a Level Chip that fits underneath the Energy Layer.

Hasbro's Pro Series Perfect Phoenix is virtually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Perfect Phoenix, but manufactured with weaker materials.

Forge Disc - 8'

Main article: Forge Disc - 8'

8', like other even numbered Core Discs, is symmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. 8' is essentially a wider and lighter version of 8, with higher Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) due to its wider shape. As a result, 8' has higher Stamina Potential than its predecessor. Like 8, 8' features four protrusions on each side. Each of the protrusions features gaps, akin to Knuckle, which takes weight away from the center and creates high Outward Weight Distribution. However, like other heavy Forge Discs with high Outward Weight Distribution, the use of 8' decreases Burst Resistance as a trade off.

Disc Frame - Proof

Proof features a circle shape with a round shape, akin to Spread. While too small to come into contact with the opponent's Layer, the relatively round shape of Proof grants the highest Life-After-Death out of all other Disc Frames in the metagame at the time of writing and outclasses Cross and Glaive in Stamina.

Performance Tip - Friction

Main article: Performance Tip - Friction

Friction features a wide ball shaped tip that sits at the standard height composed of PolyOxyMethylene (POM) thermoplastic, akin to a combination of Massive and Yielding, surrounded by a ring of rubber, akin to Atomic's free-spinning ring. In theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Defense by having greater surface area and friction, however in practice, Friction's low friction POM construction reduces much of the Knock-Out Resistance given by the surface area of the ball. Like the tabs of other ball based Performance Tips for Defense, Friction's rubber ring is meant to act as brakes against Knock-Outs at the cost of Stamina by striking against the stadium floor, however, the rubber is situated so high up that it is incapable of reaching the stadium floor at all.

While these features may imply that a Friction combination would be easy to Knock-Out, in reality the heavy weight of Cho-Z and SwitchStrike/God Layers and many Core Discs compensates for the POM construction and the static ball creates greater friction than a free-spinning ball, giving Friction greater Knock-Out Resistance than Atomic or Orbit. Furthermore, the low friction increases the Burst resistance of Friction-based Combinations. However, Friction performs poorly in Spin-Equalization and Opposite-Spin Combinations as the Tip is very easily Destabilized.
