Bottom Spike or Ball Sharp (ボールシャープ, Bōru Shāpu) is a Performance Tip released by Takara Tomy. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BB-18 Booster Libra DF145BS on October 23rd, 2008, and in western countries with the release of the BB-60 Starter Pack Earth Virgo GB145BS in 2010.
Description[]
Bottom Spike is quite similar to that of Spike. Bottom Spike offers very little movement and as such gives no Attack potential. The pointed tip allows for very little friction between the bottom and the stadium surface, which helps prevent the loss of Spin Velocity. Bottom Spike has decent Stamina, but because the tip is so fine, it experiences the same balance issues that Spike does. Defense, Semi-Defense, and Wide Defense are much better choices.
Overall[]
Bottom Spike has been outclassed by other Performance Tips, such as its variants Eternal Bottom Spike and Coating Bottom Spike, in Defense and Stamina Type combos, and has little competitive use.
As such, Bottom Spike is recommended for collection purposes only.
