Metal Fusion (メタルフュージョン, Metaru Fyūjon) is a Performance Tips released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Superking Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-179 Booster Death Solomon Metal Fusion 2B on March 20th, 2021.

Description

Metal Fusion features a plastic flat tip with a small diameter and a small protrusion in the center. It is the Metal Lock Driver version of the Fusion Performance Tip, featuring a Metal Lock and a stronger spring, increasing weight and Burst Resistance. The Metal Lock has shorter tabs than standard and Dash Locks, resulting in lower Burst Resistance, despite the stronger spring. There is a mold variation of Metal Fusion: initial releases of Metal Fusion have the original Metal Lock design, which can damage a Layer's teeth. All subsequent reprints of Metal Lock Drivers from October 2021 onward feature a running change that shortens the tabs, reducing Burst Resistance but also the likelihood of causing damage to a Layer.

When launched parallel to the stadium, Metal Fusion will spin on the protrusion, creating a stable, Stamina-conserving spin. When knocked off balance by the opponent or launched at an angle, the flat tip will contact the stadium floor and create a movement pattern with the same speed as Accel before returning to balancing on the protrusion.

However the aggressive movement is unreliable as the protrusion can slow a Metal Fusion Combination down in the center of the stadium or stop the movement entirely. Furthermore, the small size of the protrusion means that when a Metal Fusion Combination slows down and lists, contact will be made with the flat base, severely reducing Stamina.

Like other Metal Lock Performance Tips, Metal Fusion features a metal lock cap and a stronger spring lock, increasing the Performance Tip's Burst Resistance. However, due to the lock cap being made out of metal, a Layer's teeth might be damaged when this Performance Tip is used.

Overall

Due to the center protrusion, Metal Fusion is inconsistent in Attack and due to the flat base, Metal Fusion is inconsistent in Stamina as well.

As such, Metal Fusion is recommended for collection purposes only.
