Polish Defense or PD is a Performance Tip released by Takara Tomy. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BB-90 LED Sight on September 18, 2010.

Description[]

Polish Defense (PD) is the second widest (second only to Wide Defense (WD)) of the "Defense" series of Performance Tips (D, SD, WD, W2D, EWD and PD). Polish Defense uses a different plastic than other Performance Tips, polyoxymethylene, which provides lower friction. The wide surface area prevents the Beyblade from being knocked over easily. In addition, it is able to wobble at a larger angle and for a longer period of time than Defense (D). However, low spin rate is created towards the end of a battle because in the process of wobbling at such a large angle, more friction is made with the stadium floor, thus decreasing its stamina. Although its name suggests defensive characteristics, Polish Defense does not possess any inherent defensive qualities. Polish Defense finds the most use in Stamina Type customizations, especially with mid-height Spin Tracks such as 160/170 heights. However, Polish Defense is outclassed by other Defense Type Performance Tips, such as Defense (D) and Eternal Wide Defense (EWD).

Trivia[]

  • Polish Defense is the only Performance Tip to use a different type of plastic for its design, using polyoxymethylene rather than the standard type. This design choice was made to provide its gimmick.
  • Along with Around Sharp (AS) and Sharp Wide Defense (SWD), Polish Defense is one of the only Performance Tips not released by Hasbro.
