Sword (ソード, Sōdo) is a Performance Tip released as part of the Burst System as well as the Cho-Z Layer System. It debuted with the release of the B-120 Starter Buster Xcalibur 1' Sword on August 11th, 2018.

Description

Sword is a Performance Tip that features a wide, metal, six-pointed star tip, akin to a combination of Iron, Assault and Jaggy, and two metal sword-like protrusions on either side. Sword also features a gimmick; it can increase the weight of attacks.

To do this, the aforementioned sword-like metal protrusions are positioned in a way that allows them to line up with the contact points of combinations that use unbalanced Layers such as Sieg Xcalibur and Buster Xcalibur as they grow halfway to Bursting. In theory, the metal protrusions of Sword help increase the weight of the Sword Combination's attacks, making KOs or Bursts occur more often. Due to the shape and surface area, Sword will create a highly aggressive movement pattern with speeds comparable to Assault.

While this may imply high Attack potential, in practice, the rough perimeter, low friction of the metal, and wide diameter of the tip not only makes it difficult for Sword to maintain a Banking Pattern, it also creates relatively poor Stamina, despite the metal construction, making Sword ill-suited for Attack and Tornado Stalling Combinations. Furthermore, the metal protrusions of Sword, while they are capable of increasing the weight of a Combination's attacks, create a severe scrape risk, nullifying any Life After Death potential it may have. Finally, Sword is taller than most other Performance Tips, which further reduces Attack potential, as the Sword Combination is prone to being destabilized.

Overall

Sword features poor control, relatively poor Stamina, a severe scrape risk and a height that's ill-suited for Attack Combinations.

As such, Sword is recommended for collection purposes only.
