When simply spinning by itself, this Performance Tip behaves as a normal Ball tip. The special thing about it is the support ridges and defensive ring. Whenever it starts to tip over, these ridges allow it to right itself, making it very hard to hit it from the top or below. While the defensive ring might aid its user's protection against low attacks, there are currently no Beys short enough to do so. As of now, the ring only serves to increase scrape risk.

Standard SlingShock

Defense (ディフェンス, Difensu) is a Performance Tip released as part of the Burst System. It debuted with the release of the B-04 Starter Kerbeus Central Defense on July 18th, 2015. It later debuted in western countries with the release of the Valtryek & Unicrest Dual Pack.

Description

Defense features a Ball tip and sits at a standard track height. A protective disk sits halfway down the Performance Tip, and the Ball tip has four support ridges. The center of the Performance Tip also contains a shield decal to symbolize itself.

When simply spinning by itself, Defense behaves as a normal Ball tip. When struck however, the tabs will force the Beyblade back into an upright position after being knocked off balance and act as brakes to prevent KOs by striking against the stadium floor at the cost of Stamina. While the ring may imply Defense potential akin to Metal Fight Beyblade's D125 track, it is positioned too low for any Burst System Beyblade to make contact with. However, the smooth perimeter of the ring does grant Life After Death potential.

Overall

Defense was a highly versatile Performance Tip with excellent Defense and Stamina properties which made it a key part in the metagame. However with the release of the heavier SwitchStrike/God Layer System as well as the heavier Core Discs and Disc Frames, Defense has become outclassed by Tips such as Orbit and Atomic.

As such, Defense is not a must have but is instead a welcome addition to a blader's collection.
