Zone'+Z (ゾーンダッシュゼット, Zōn Dasshu Zetto; Zone Dash Z) is a Performance Tip released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Superking Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-174 Beyblade Limit Break DX Set on November 14th, 2020.
Description
Zone'+Z is a variant of the Zone' Driver with the Zone Chip attached. Zone'+Z retains the functionality of the regular Zone', with a low-angle cone sharp tip, surrounded by a free-spinning plate. The free-spinning plate is intended to reduce friction between the Driver and the Stadium floor, as well as keep a Zone'+Z combination upright after being knocked off balance and act as brakes to prevent Knock-Outs (KOs). The Zone Chip increases the size of the free-spinning plate, increasing the effectiveness of the gimmick. With the larger surface area, the Zone Chip increases the stabilization effect of the free-spinning plate by creating a second point of contact with the Stadium floor. The free-spinning nature of the plate minimizes Stamina loss at this second point of contact, increasing Stamina and Life-After-Death (LAD). Zone'+Z generally performs best in Opposite-Spin matches, and can Spin-Equalize to an effectiveness comparable to Drivers like Bearing' and Bearing Mobius.
Zone'+Z can refer to Zone' being used with either Takara Tomy's metal Zone Chip or Hasbro's plastic Zone Chip. Besides a 2 gram difference in weight, Hasbro's Zone Chip is less likely to self-KO as it is less aggressive than its Takara Tomy counterpart due to the reduced friction between the Zone Chip and the Stadium floor. Hasbro's Zone Chip also has slightly better performance in Same-Spin matches. Takara Tomy's Zone Chip has better KO Resistance due to the heavy weight of metal, and can be used to great effect against Attack combinations when light launched.
Like other Dash Drivers, Zone'+Z features a stronger spring lock, increasing Burst Resistance.
Overall
Due to its high Stamina and Life-After-Death (LAD), Zone'+Z is an excellent Performance Tip for Stamina combinations, particularly against Opposite-Spin opponents. However, due to the prevalence of Bearing Drift, Zone'+Z is generally outperformed; it is however recommended for Layers with low Burst Resistance, as they have a Burst risk when using Bearing Drift.
As such, Zone'+Z is not a must-have but a welcome addition for competitive bladers.
