Samurai Changer MS (サムライチェンジャーMS, Samurai Chenjya Metaru Sōdo; Samurai Changer Metal Sword) is a Balance Type Beyblade released by Takara as part of the Hard Metal System as well as the Gimmick Specialty Series. It was released as a Booster in Japan on October 23rd, 2004 for 580円.
Bit Protector - Samurai Emblem
- Main article: Bit Protector - Samurai Emblem
The Samurai Emblem Bit Protector features a stylized silhouette of a samurai wearing a Kabuto helmet. The name "Samurai Changer", along with the standard phrase "Beyblade Metal System", is written below the silhouette. The Samurai Emblem Bit Protector uses the third mold variation, which is the tightest version; there is almost no room between the Bit Protector and Attack Ring.
Attack Ring - Samurai Upper
- Main article: Attack Ring - Samurai Upper
Samurai Upper is a circular Attack Ring that is an upgraded variant of the Circle Upper Attack Ring released with Dark Gargoyle MS, featuring the same metal component. The metal component features steep sloped upper blades. Like Circle Upper, when launched in right-spin, it is possible to perform an Upper Attack with the metal component, which acts as the main contact point. Compared to Circle Upper, the plastic component of Samurai Upper is wider, creating a more aggressive shape that increases Attack potential. The additional plastic also creates the ability to perform Smash Attack, which Circle Upper could not. This is in part because the wider plastic component increases the attack ranger of the Attack Ring, making it easier for a Samurai Upper combination to make contact with an opponent. The stickers on the plastic component feature the words "Samurai Edge" and the Kanji "武" (meaning "martial").
The circular shape of Samurai Upper creates excellent weight distribution that supports centrifugal force and increases Defense potential. Due to this and its heavy weight, Samurai Upper also excels in Defense combinations. At 22 grams Samurai Upper is the heaviest Attack Ring, alongside Jiraiya Blade. Because of the sloped shape of the metal component, the type of Attack will vary heavily depending on the spin direction that a Samurai Upper combination is launched in. While in right-spin, Samurai Upper can generally make use of a mix between Smash Attack and Upper Attack. While in left-spin, due to the sloped shape, Samurai Upper can only produce Smash Attack, although to a very effective degree.
Weight Disk - Circle Heavy
- Main article: Weight Disk - Circle Heavy
Circle Heavy is a Weight Disk that, as its name suggests, features a circular design and a heavy weight. Due to its high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD), Circle Heavy excels in both Attack and Defense combinations. Circle Heavy can be used when the much rarer CWD Defense Ring and CWD God Ring Weight Disks are unavailable.
Running Core - Battle Change Core
- Main article: Running Core - Battle Change Core
Battle Change Core is a Balance Type Running Core that is part of the Gimmick Specialty Series. As such, it features a gimmick: it will automatically change between a flat and sharp tip during battle. Unlike other Beyblades with a similar in-battle tip change feature, Battle Change Core changes modes when impacted, rather than through a reduction in centrifugal force.
The gimmick activates with a switch mechanism inside the Running Core. When either part of the Battle Change Core rotates, the switch is activated and the mode switches between Attack Mode and Survival Mode. There is no limit to how many times modes can switch during battle, and modes will often switch multiple times. The sharp tip extends and retracts when the mechanism is activated; when the sharp tip retracts, the flat tip casing becomes the main point of contact with the Stadium floor, increasing speed.
In theory this mode change gimmick increases the versatility of Battle Change Core; in practice it fails to perform adequately in either mode. Furthermore, there is no way to properly expect and control which mode will be active during a battle.
For Defense combinations Battle Change Core can work well due to its weight, but Jiraiya MS's Bearing Core 2 and Round Shell MS's Rubber Weight Core heavily outclass it. Battle Change Core has inferior grip and Stamina compared to Bearing Core 2 and weighs less than Rubber Weight Core, with less shock absorption as well.
