Screw Trident 8Bump Wedge (スクリュートライデント・エイトバンプ・ウェッジ, Sukuryū Toraidento Eito Banpu Wejji) is a Stamina Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It was released as a Booster in Japan on February 17th, 2018 for 972円.

In the toyline, it is the successor to Trident Heavy Claw.

Energy Layer - Screw Trident

Main article: Energy Layer - Screw Trident
The motif is of the three-pronged spear, Trident. A right-spin Stamina Type God Layer that can change the direction of the impact's rotation by using its three outer blades made of rubber.
— Official Description

Takara Tomy's Screw Trident is a Stamina Type Energy Layer with trident motifs meant to represent its namesake; Trishula, a three pronged spear in Hinduism. Like its predecessor Trident, Screw Trident features three large blades to create an overall triangular shape. As part of the God Layer System, Screw Trident features gimmicks; the center and blades of the Layer are connected by rubber to create “Bound Defense”, akin to Jerk.

In theory, the rubber would allow the blades would shift under impact and absorb shock to reduce recoil. In practice however, due to how hard the rubber is, the gimmick fails to function. This issue is exacerbated by the triangular shape of the Layer which creates high recoil and Burst Risk which the four medium teeth are unable to compensate for.

Despite the high Burst risk however, Screw Trident performs well in pure Stamina Combinations as its weight distribution creates spin times near or equal to Deep Chaos, albeit without Destabilization potential.

Forge Disc - 8

Main article: Forge Disc - 8

8, like other even numbered Core Discs, is symmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. Each side features four protrusions, each molded into the shape of an "8". Each of the lower loops of the "8"s features gaps, akin to Knuckle, which takes weight away from the center and creates high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) and subsequent Flywheel Effect, features theoretically perfect for Stamina. Furthermore, 8 is one of the heaviest Discs in the game, heavier than Heavy, Gravity, 2, 4, and 6 and its use can bolster a Beyblade's Knock-Out Resistance and Attack potential. However, like other heavy discs with high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) such as Gravity and Ring, the use of 8 severely decreases a Beyblade's Burst Resistance as a trade off.

Disc Frame - Bump

Main article: Disc Frame - Bump

Bump is a round Disc Frame with numerous protrusions to give it a rough perimeter. While too small to come into contact with the opponent's Layer, Bump is one of the thickest and thus heaviest Frames in the game, heavier than Meteor, which grants high Attack potential when paired with Core Discs such as 7. While the round shape may imply high Life-After-Death, the rough perimeter makes it outclassed for Defense and Stamina by Glaive and Cross.

Performance Tip - Wedge

Main article: Performance Tip - Wedge

Wedge features a tall low angled cone tip made of metal, akin to a metal version of Survive, that sits at a standard height. The Stamina of such shapes is further bolstered by the low friction of the metal which also theoretically increases the Burst Resistance of any Wedge Combination. These features grant Wedge high Stamina potential, which would make it an excellent choice for Stamina Combinations. However, Wedge has two major weakness that make it a huge risk in competitive play, the low friction of the metal and the weight distribution of the Tip itself.

Due to how little friction there is between the metal tip and the stadium floor, Wedge is easy to Destabilize as well as Knock-Out. While the Tip may seem to be comprised mostly of metal and thus heavy to create a stable low center of gravity, the metal in Wedge is in fact hollow which limits weight. Furthermore, Wedge itself is unbalanced which creates erratic movements that increases Burst risk and drains Stamina.

Trivia

  • Screw Trident is a combination of the word "screw", a mechanism that converts rotational motion to linear motion in physics term, and "trident", the three-pronged spear in mythology, which is often wielded by sea gods such as Poseidon and Neptune.
  • To enforce this Beyblade's theme, its avatar is a long black-haired, dark-blue skinned, golden armored spearman wielding a trident.
    • The chest armor and the diadem are trident-shaped to enforce the trident theme.
    • The avatar appears to possess traits of the Greek Hoplite.
  • This Beyblade's English name "Spiral Treptune" is the second instance of the word "Screw" being changed to "Spiral", the first being the Spiral Fusion Wheel from the Metal Series.
