Shadow Orichalcum Aero Bite (シャドウオリハルコン・エアロ・バイト, Shadō Oriharukon Earo Baito), stylized as Shadow Ωrichalcum αero βite, is a Defense Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It was released as a CoroCoro Exclusive Booster in Japan in August 2017.

It is the alternate version of Orichalcum Outer Octa.

Energy Layer - Shadow Orichalcum[]

Takara Tomy's Shadow Orichalcum features a round design with a face on either side and orbs on either side, meant to represent this Layer's namesake, the historical metal Orichalcum. As part of the God Layer System, Shadow Orichalcum features a gimmick; the underside of the Layer features claws that grip onto the Driver.

Due to the centrifugal force of a Beyblade's spin, each half of the Layer will extend outward and in turn bring two grooved claws on the underside of the Layer inwards to grip onto the Driver and revealing gold coloration for identification. In theory this is meant to increase the Burst Resistance of a Shadow Orichalcum Combination early in battle where spin speeds and thus Burst risks are highest. In practice, the grooved claws increase the friction between the Layer and Driver and thus the gimmick works as intended.

However, two factors limit the gimmick's effectiveness; first, the action of each half of the Layer extending outwards creates an elliptical shape. This elliptical shape creates high amounts of recoil and increases Burst risk and can create a Knock-Out (KO) risk depending on the Driver used. Second, Shadow Orichalcum features four teeth of only medium length and thus the Layer must depend on its gimmick to not Burst with the aforementioned elliptical shape.

Forge Disc - Aero[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Aero

Takara Tomy's Aero is a slim, rounded pentagonal Disc composed of five downward sloping blades, akin to a reversed Wing, meant to create Down Force in Right-Spin and Upper Force in Left-Spin. However, like Wing, Aero's slimness makes it far too light to be useful in any type of Combination and the blades are too shallow to create any noticeable Down/Upper Force effect. Aero is notable for being the only Disc to receive no equivalent release by Hasbro.

Performance Tip - Bite[]

Bite features a wide rubber ball tip composed of rubber. However, the rubber used in Bite is very hard. Despite this, Bite still has the excellent Knock-Out Resistance and poor Stamina due to the increased friction on a small surface area.
