The Spark FX system is supposed to make the Beyblade: Metal Fury Beys look more original, compared to the original Takara Tomy Beyblades. To this end, the Beyblades have multicolored Energy Rings so when they spin they appear to be a new color, like the Hyperblades gimmick from Plastics. When it is used with the Beys, the face bolt may shine or produce some kind of different colored lights. The Spark FX Beys also include the Metal Fury Hyperblades series, however not all Spark FX Beys are Hyperblades. The name Spark FX is a pun on the words "Spark Effects".
