“ | Only a sniper can see its target in a split second! | ” |
—Tobio Oike |
Tobio Oike (大池 トビオ, Ōike Tobio) is a minor character in the Metal Series, making his debut as a minor antagonist in Beyblade: Metal Fusion.
He is a former member of the Dark Nebula and a Blader with great aim using his Storm Capricorn M145Q.
Physical Appearance
Tobio is a slim, Japanese boy with pale skin of average height. He has a trademark yellow afro which he doesn't want messed-up, as he is always combing it. He has brown eyes although his left is normally covered by his aiming device. He wears a long white and black coat many buckles and buttons zipped up to his neck. He also sports black pants, black shoes and gray gloves with yellow dots and a yellow wristband.
Personality
Tobio is a very persistent and does not let his target get out of his sights until he claims victory. His personality is matched to that of a soldier, and when he assigns himself to a mission he will not fail (at least that's what he thinks).
Beyblade: Metal Fusion
Tobio believes he is a soldier of some sort: he always acts as if he is really shooting with a gun and locking his target, when in fact he has a Beylauncher and an Angle Compass. When he wins a match, he says "Mission Complete", and "Mission Incomplete" when he loses. He always calculates his shots and angles. Tobio also seems to want to rid the streets of some of the bullies, which is why he tracked Kyoya down. As soon as he notices that his plans go wrong (or are ignored, in Kyoya's case), he easily gets ticked off and tries to find another plan of action.
He is usually very feared among street beybladers. He goes by the name "Captain Capri". However, for some reason, he always likes sucking on a blue lollipop while executing his plans, which does give him a slightly childish side. He is also very bothered if his afro is messed up in any way.
Tobio made his debut appearance in Episode 25, where he was mentioned by other Bladers as a 'strong Blader', with a true story that 'Captain Capri' is a legend that takes down the strongest Bladers in the world. He was undefeated, even defeating Ryo Onoue in a challenge match. but while he was a challenge for a powerful Kyoya Tategami and his Rock Leone, he was later defeated. After losing to Kyoya, Tobio told him that he will make it to Battle Bladers and defeat him, which Kyoya shrugs off.
He later (after losing at the finals of a big tournament to Ryuga alongside Ryutaro Fukami) appeared in a challenge match where he interrupted the battle between Gingka Hagane and Django. He uses his Capricorn to knock out Django's Clay Wolf 105B. He then challenges Gingka to a beybattle to prove that he is stronger than him to the Dark Nebula. Gingka accepts and they quickly battle with ferocity. Gingka says Pegasus will not be defeated on a head on attack but was just a diversion by Tobio as part of a plan. Tobio uses a technique known as Sniper Shot allowing his Storm Capricorn M145Q to go through small places and attack Pegasus and hide for cover in a quick second. Tobio's Sniper shot repels Pegasus with ease forcing Gingka to retreat for cover.
Gingka taunts Tobio into fighting him head on but falls for Tobio's trap as Pegasus is getting attacked from all directions bouncing off the floor with its performance tip. Tobio states that the only way for him to survive is by defeating Gingka due to the fact that Ryuga can never be defeated shocking Gingka.
Gingka says he will never give up but is then caught in the site of Capricorn's special move Spin Screwdriver. Which forms a tornado falling towards Gingka's Pegasus but then counters with his special move Storm Bringer causing Tobio's Capricorn to fall slowly to the arena and knocked out of the arena by Gingka and defeat. After losing he gets mocked by Yu Tendo and Doji who believe that he was too weak. He then appears as one of the 16 bladers who qualified for Battle Bladers where he was against Benkei Hanawa in the first round. Unfortunately, he lost to Dark Bull H145SD as his Storm Capricorn was knocked out by Bull's Red Horn Uppercut, eliminating him from the tournament.
After his defeat by Benkei and his elimination from Battle Bladers, Doji decides to use him as food for Ryuga. Tobio and Tetsuya Watarigani team up to fight Ryuga, but they lose, and their energy is drained.
Later, after Gingka defeats Ryuga, Tobio, Ryutaro, and the other former Dark Nebula Bladers regain their energy and join in the celebration of Gingka's victory.
Beyblade: Metal Masters
Tobio fights in the Japan Qualification Rounds but only ranks 10th, which isn't enough to get into the team. Later he as well as other bladers from Japan wishing Team GanGan Galaxy luck in the championships.
Beyblade: Metal Fury
Tobio travels to America to enter a tournament involving the "Destroyer Dome" stadium. Tobio makes a flashy entrance using a parachute and prepares to battle several others including Tsubasa Otori in the tournament.
Tobio starts off strong and eliminates Sugio and Dave with two attacks from his Capricorn's quake tip. Tobio is soon surrounded by Team Garcia who plans to take him out, but their own feud causes them to battle amongst each other, saving Tobio. Tobio is glad that he wasn't attacked but ends up confronted by Tsubasa, who he gladly takes on.
Although Tsubasa is distracted by his friends Toby and Zeo being attacked by Team Garcia, Tobio decides to hold him back from helping them, demanding that he be Tsubasa's only opponent. Tobio begins to barrage and dominate eagle, but Tsubasa calms down enough to use a counter smash that defeats Tobio's Capricorn.
In the finale, He lends his strength along with the other bladers around the world to help Gingka defeat Nemesis

Quotes
- "You wrecked my hair!" - When Kyoya launched his Leone at him at cut a bit of his hair then walked away.
- "Mission Accomplished/Failed" - When he wins/loses to someone respectively.
- "You call THAT a Lightning Launch?!?"- Tobio, about to show a real Lightning Launch.
Trivia
- Tobio launches from a prone position, exactly like a sniper would in real life.
- He is listed as one of Japan's top 10 Bladers.
- Tobio later on replaces his Launcher Grip and Angle Compass with 3-Segment Launcher Grip and LED Sight because he can angle it more easily.
- The Angle Compass is usually used by beginning Bladers. Tobio is more advanced. He uses it to determine the proper launch for his Storm Capricorn.
- Tobio is one of the many Beyblade: Metal Masters Beybladers to only be seen in the cut-scene of the Japanese representative tournament.
- Tobio is one out of two bladers from the former Dark Nebula to appear in Metal Fusion, Metal Masters, and Metal Fury. The other is Ryutaro.
- Tobio tracking down Kyoya could likely be because he knew that Kyoya was the former leader of the Face Hunters and was unaware that it disbanded.
- Although Tobio tells Kyoya that he will face him in Battle Bladers again, this never ends up happening as He loses in the very first battle to Benkei. What makes this more ironic is that Tobio was beaten by Kyoya's best friend and right-hand man in Battle Bladers.
- Fans often group the 3 former Dark Nebula Bladers Tobio, Ryutaro and Tetsuya together. They do not appear together in the anime or manga; in response to a fan asking for a name for this trio, series creator Takafumi Adachi named the group "Death Stream Scissors".[1]
