Union Achilles Convert Xtend+ Retsu (ユニオンアキレス・コンバート・エクステンドプラス・烈, Yunion Akiresu Konbāto Ekusutendo Purasu Retsu) is a Balance-Type Beyblade released as part of the Burst System as well as the Gatinko Layer System. It was released as a Booster in Japan on September 21st, 2019 for 1296円.

Gatinko Chip - Achilles

Main article: Gatinko Chip - Achilles

Achilles is a right-spin Gatinko Chip that features an armored face and a sword, meant to represent the Gatinko Chip's namesake; the Greek hero, Achilles. Achilles has a standard weight for Gatinko Chips, and the highest Burst Resistance. Its high Burst Resistance is due to its two hard and two standard locks, the highest lock count of any Gatinko Chip. This gives Achilles high Burst Resistance, even when a Dash Driver is not used. When paired with the Goku Layer Weight, Achilles is the ideal Gatinko Chip to use in right-spin Combinations.

Hasbro's Pro Series Achilles is virtually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Achilles. but manufactured with weaker materials.

Layer Weight - Retsu

Main article: Layer Weight - Retsu

Retsu has three hexagons, one on the right side and two on the left side. That means most of the weight will be concentrated on one side of the Beyblade the Retsu weight is on. Also, the Retsu weight's hexagons don't have that much detail, they are just basic, thus having less weight than detailed weights like Sen and Goku. Being that the weight of Retsu is low compared to more-detailed layer weights stated in the previous sentence, Retsu is heavily outclassed and has no use in combinations.

Layer Base - Union

Main article: Layer Base - Union

Takara Tomy's Union is a right-spin Balance Type Base with two large sloped blades as the primary points of contact, granting the Base high Knock-Out (KO) and Burst Attack potential. These blades are further amplified by the Union Sword accessory, which can be removed to switch between modes. In "Power Mode", the Union Swords are attached onto the Base, increasing the weight of Union and the length of the two large blades. In "Speed Mode", the Union Swords are removed from the Base, increasing the speed of the Union combination and complementing Attack Type Drivers such as Xtreme'.

Forge Disc - Convert

Main article: Forge Disc - Convert

Convert is a wide four-sided Forge Disc, however, the four points are more pronounced than other four-sided Discs such as Sting. The metal also hangs downwards. The plastic piece on Convert allows for a mode change, where by rotating it, Convert can change from its "Normal Mode" to its "Imbalanced Mode". However, the Imbalanced Mode is not practical, and severely hinders any Combination using it.

Convert's heavy weight and outward weight distribution make it excellent for attack combos, provided you do not mind a scrape risk, but the fact that the metal on the Disc hangs downwards renders it terrible in most other situations. It can work on Drivers like Drift and LAD Drivers, that want low-hanging Discs, but 10Wall is usually the better option for Stamina combinations that prefer low-hanging Discs.

Performance Tip - Xtend+

Main article: Performance Tip - Xtend+

Xtend+ is a variant of the Xtend Performance Tip featuring a new tip add-on. Unlike its predecessor, Xtend+ does not have a manual height change gimmick but instead features the adjustable Xtend Chip (エクステンドチップ, Ekusutendo Chippu) tip at a standard height with three modes: Attack, Defense and Stamina.

The Attack Mode features a wide, hollow flat tip, wider than Assault and akin to Zephyr at the standard height of most Performance Tips. Due to the surface area of this mode, Xtend+ will create a highly aggressive movement pattern with speeds greater than Assault. However, the wide diameter of the tip makes it difficult to maintain a banking pattern and creates relatively low Stamina, making the mode poorly suited for both traditional Attack and Tornado Stalling Combinations.

The Defense Mode features a low angle, stepped cone tip, at the standard height of most Performance Tips. Due to the stepped cone, when an Xtend+ Combination is struck and reaches higher on the Stadium's slope, the flat edge of the tip will create a second point of contact, briefly increasing friction and aggression to both slow down the Combination and counter attack. However, due to the edge of the tip being made of plastic rather than rubber like in Unite and smooth rather than tabbed like in Defense, the effect of the second point of contact is minimal, creating poor Knock-Out Resistance.

The Stamina Mode features a low angle cone tip, akin to Trans' Stamina Mode at a lower height than most Performance Tips. Due to the low friction, Xtend+ creates excellent Stamina. Of the three modes, Stamina has the best performance.

In all three modes, the tip's low angled base and wide diameter grant Xtend+ high Life-After-Death potential, comparable to Eternal, Atomic and Bearing.

Trivia

  • Like the Japanese namesake of its predecessors Z Achilles A4 11 Xtend, Z Achilles A4 11 Xtend+ and Turbo Achilles A4 00 Dimension, Union Achilles' name is based on the word "union", the action of joining or being joined, and Achilles, a Greek hero who fought in the Trojan War and was the greatest warrior and central character in Homer's Iliad.
  • The face on Union Achilles' Gatinko Chip is a side view like the face on Z Achilles Layer.
