Energy Layer: Valtryek V2

In-depth information for Hasbro’s Valtryek V2 Energy Layer will be placed here once drafting has been completed for it. Please be patient.

Forge Disc: Boost

Main article: Forge Disc - D01: Boost

Weight: 20.0 grams This Forge Disc features a six-blade design. These six blades are pointing downwards to increase the stability. On the upper side of the Forge Disc, the letter "B" appears for easy differentiation from other Forge Discs. It essentially resembles a bolder version of Wing.

Unlike Wing Forge Disc, it is able to replicate the performance of other top-tier Forge Discs in Defense customizations. However, since those other options are safer choices, Boost and its bladed design are good substitutes.

Performance Tip: Variable

Main article: Performance Tip - Variable

Variable features a rubber tip, made up of two sets of rubber spikes, that begins at standard height. The spikes are meant to wear down and break off with use so unlike most other rubber tips, Variable will become more aggressive instead of less aggressive over time.

When launched in mint condition the first set of six spikes will create a mildly aggressive pattern at speeds akin to Blow, albeit without the Stamina due to the greater friction the rubber has. Due to how tall the first six teeth are and the somewhat brittle nature of the rubber in the Takara Tomy release, the first set of teeth will break off relatively quickly.

When launched after the first set of teeth have given way to the second set of fourteen spikes, Variable's speed increases remarkably, becoming as fast or even faster than Xtreme, due to the now increased surface area and diameter. However, that same speed and diameter increase makes Variable incredibly difficult to control at this stage as banking is difficult to maintain, Self-Knock-Outs become common and its Stamina worsens. Due to the greater number of spikes and their shorter length, Variable does not wear out as quickly at this stage. Of the stages, this stage of Variable is considered the best.

When the second set of spikes break off, what's left is a solid base of rubber. At this point Variable's speed increases further but the aforementioned control and Stamina issues become even worse, having trouble even staying on the Tornado Ridge of the stadium and losing spin too quickly to perform any meaningful attacks when it begins to slow down.

When this tip loses teeth, it does become shorter as a result, granting Attack combinations Destabilization potential. Furthermore, due to the wide base, Variable has relatively high Life-After-Death when worn down, making it a somewhat safer choice against Spin-Equalization combinations. Variable has a special gimmick that evolves the driver depending on how worn down it is, the more worn down the more movements occur in battle. It has two evolutions the first one has all of the six original teeth on the inner part of the driver worn down to the next set of teeth which has 14 smaller and packed tighter teeth. The second and final evolution is where all of the teeth have been worn down to nothing and the outer rubber circle is exposed to the stadium, this final evolution has the most movement because it's basically a rubber version of giga flat from metal fight.

Trivia

  • Valtryek V2 Boost Variable is the first Burst release to be an upgrade of a previous release, being the upgrade of Valtryek Wing Accel.
  • In ancient Norse mythology, Valkyries are female angels who come down to take vikings who were injured in battle to take them to Valhalla, they are often depicted with winged horses.
  • Valtryek's Hasbro name possibly comes from Valkyrie or Valt and Dreieck / Trieck (the German word for triangle) which is sometimes pronounced "tryek" by English speakers. The triangle in it's Hasbro name might refer to the three attack points on the Valtryek and Valtryek V2 Energy Layers.
