Energy Layer - Wild Wyvern[]

The motif is of the flying dragon, Wyvern. A right-spin Defense Type Dual Layer that keeps opponents away without the need of repeated hits with its four small blades in the upper row and four large blades in the lower row.
— Official Description

Takara Tomy's Wild Wyvern is a Defense Type Layer that features eight blades that alternate between colored and clear plastic and the head of a dragon, meant to represent this Layer's namesake; the Wyvern, a two-legged winged dragon.

While Wild Wyvern may seem round and thus ideal for Defense at first glance, upon closer inspection it's actually square in shape. Each of the corners of this square shape create points of recoil that make it unsuitable for Defense Combinations. This problem is further exacerbated for Wild Wyvern, which has teeth akin to that of Chaos, which leads to the downfall of this Layer. The teeth are so short that they are unable to withstand the recoil that comes from the square shape, making Wild Wyvern severely prone to losses by Burst.

Forge Disc - Vertical[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Vertical

Vertical is shaped somewhat like an upside-down funnel, similar to its predecessor Armed. However, unlike Armed, which has a more gradual and rounded slope, Vertical’s slope begins at a sharper angle and continues downward in a straight line. Vertical also sports a jagged, line-like design, which forms the outline for several holes on the disc’s exterior and eight protrusions on its underside. Despite resembling Armed in terms of shape, Vertical does not offer the same resistance to Bursting that Armed is notable for, while also possessing less Stamina than top-tier Forge Discs such as Spread and Gravity.

Performance Tip - Orbit[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Orbit

Orbit features a free rotating plastic ball tip with a diameter equal to Massive, surrounded by a three tabbed ring. In theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Knock-Out Defense by having greater surface area and friction, however, in practice the free rotating nature of the ball reduces most of the Knock-Out Resistance given by the surface area of the ball. Like other ball based Defense Performance Tips, the tabs around Orbit are meant to act as brakes against Knock-Outs at the cost of Stamina by striking against the stadium floor, however, the large diameter makes such contact rare. If hard launched, Orbit creates an aggressive movement pattern early in the battle, bringing the Beyblade to the Tornado Ridge.

While these features may imply that Orbit-based Combinations would be easy to Knock-Out, in reality the heavy weight of SwitchStrike/God Layers and Core Discs compensate for the rotating ball. Furthermore, the free rotating tip increases the Burst Resistance of an Orbit-based Combination and Orbit consistently has a stronger spring lock than Atomic which further improves Burst Resistance.

In addition to the Defense properties, Orbit also features high Stamina as the free rotating nature reduces friction with the stadium floor, the wide ball tip keeps a Combination stable and thus prevents scraping.
