Energy Layer - Wyvron W2
Main article: Energy Layer - Wyvron W2
Wyvron W2 is a Defense Type Layer that features eight blades that alternate between colored and clear plastic and the head of a dragon, meant to represent this Layer's Japanese namesake; the Wyvern, a two-legged winged dragon.
While Wyvron W2 may seem round and thus ideal for Defense at first glance, like Phantazus P2, Horusood H2, and Regulus R3, upon closer inspection it's actually square in shape. Each of the corners of this square shape create points of recoil that make it unsuitable for Defense Combinations. This problem is further exacerbated for the Takara Tomy release of Wild Wyvern, which has teeth akin to that of Chaos, which leads to the downfall of this Layer. The teeth are so short that they are unable to withstand the recoil that comes from the square shape, making Wild Wyvern severely prone to losses by Burst.
Forge Disc - Vertical
Main article: Forge Disc - Vertical
Vertical is shaped somewhat like an upside-down funnel, similarly its predecessor Armed. However, unlike Armed, which has a more gradual and rounded slope, Vertical’s slope begins at a sharper angle and continues downward in a straight line. Vertical also sports a jagged, line-like design, which forms the outline for several holes on the disc’s exterior and eight protrusions on its underside. Despite resembling Armed in terms of shape, Vertical does not offer the same resistance to Bursting that Armed is notable for, while also possessing less Stamina than Top-Tier Forge Discs such as Spread and Gravity.
Performance Tip - Massive
Main article: Performance Tip - Massive
Massive features a ball shaped tip that sits at the standard height, akin to Defense, but differs by having a larger diameter, having three tabs instead of four and lacking the defensive ring. In theory, the wider tip would increase a Beyblade's Defense by having greater surface area and friction, however in practice, Massive lags behind Defense in almost every aspect.
Like other ball based Defense Performance Tips, the tabs around Massive are meant to act as brakes against KOs at the cost of Stamina by striking against the stadium floor, however, the larger diameter makes such contact rare, giving Massive weaker KO resistance than Defense.
The greater surface area of the larger ball creates a semi-aggressive movement pattern early in the battle, bringing a Beyblade closer to the Tornado Ridge. Due to the aforementioned weaker KO resistance, any Beyblade using this tip will become very easy to KO.
