The Zone Chip (ゾーンチップ, Zōn Chippu)[1] is a Performance Tip accessory released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Superking Layer System and by Hasbro as part of the SpeedStorm System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-174 Beyblade Limit Break DX Set on November 14th, 2020 and later in western countries with the release of the Evo Helios Blazebringer H6 and Jumbo Jormuntor J6 Dual Pack in June 2021.

Description

A customization part that increases the Defense and Stamina of the Xceed and Zone Drivers by increasing the size of the guard parts while maintaining free-spin.
— Official Description

The Zone Chip is an accessory that can be attached to any of the eight following Drivers: Takara Tomy's Xceed, Xceed', Zone, and Zone'; Hasbro's Xceed-SP, Xceed-SPM, Zone-SP, and Zone-SPM. When attached to a Driver, the suffix "+Z (ゼット, Zetto; Zed)" is added to the end of the Driver (ex. Zone'+Z).[1]

The intended purpose of the Zone Chip is to offer an additional customization option to these Drivers by increasing the size of the Drivers' free-spinning plate, increasing the effectiveness of the gimmick.[1] With the larger surface area, the Zone Chip increases the stabilization effect of the free-spinning plate by creating a second point of contact with the Stadium floor. The free-spinning nature of the plate minimizes Stamina loss at this second point of contact.

While both Takara Tomy and Hasbro released the Zone Chip, the major difference between the two releases is the material used; Takara Tomy's Zone Chip is made of metal, while Hasbro's is made of plastic. The result is a weight difference of about 2 grams, as well as slightly different performance. Due to its plastic material, Hasbro's Zone Chip is less aggressive than its Takara Tomy counterpart, as there is less friction between the Zone Chip and the Stadium floor.

Overall

The Zone Chip is an excellent addition to the Zone' Driver; the Zone'+Z Driver is an excellent Driver option for Defense Type Combinations. Although either the Takara Tomy or Hasbro release can be used, the Hasbro release is preferred due to its higher Stamina and lower aggression.

As such, the Zone Chip is a must have for the Burst Format.
